this reminded me of my motorcycle safety course from forever ago SIPDE is a five-step defensive driving method that stands for: S: Search and scan for information 20-30 seconds ahead I: Identify and interpret potential risks, such as pedestrians, obstacles, intersections, or oncoming vehicles P: Predict when and where conflicts may occur D: Decide on the best course of action E: Execute that action SIPDE on those flying pickleballs! great video with great production value -- loved the animation math stuff! 'psychology' was misspelled on-screen around 6:50 ... ;)

I’m excited to see this. I struggle to let anything go by me. Looking forward to seeing what you’ll teach us. Your videos have really helped me get better. My son and I started playing regularly a few months ago. We decided to get in a men’s doubles league. We entered a 3.0-3,5 league but we killed everyone so we moved up to 3.5-4.0. We’re winning 75% of our matches. Each week we keep practicing new thing you’ve taught us and we’re slowly getting better. One of these days we’ll get brave and enter our first tournament. Thanks for making great videos that are short, to the point and best of all I love when you show a couple of examples from real matches to illustrate what you’re teaching. The visuals you add during post production are fantastic. Are you doing the editing or is someone else? What program are you using to edit with. Thanks again for helping my son and I to be able to go out and have such a fun time competing in such an awesome sport!

Great vid. One suggestion. Add content about partner help. The person that has a drive hit at them has more pressure on them than their partner does. Sometimes a simple "No!" From my partner helps me pull off the shot.

Great stuff! Still a new guy trying to bang away at most of my opponents, while also trying to be able to return everything. Returning WAY to many that would be out. First, my slow mind must relate that, "This one will be out" faster and then I must put on the breaks and let it go. 😁 Again, good information..... as usual! Keep it up Kyle! Thanks

Always good content - here's the magic question - can you drill for this? you're at the kitchen - and a buddy is on the other baseline. Whenever the buddy winds up - you would basically let them all go past you (unless really low to the net and it's obvious ?) but upon letting them go you tell yourself in or not - then you see if you were correct. Would this work ? if yes I see this as a very occasional drill. thanks !!

As an advanced beginner, I often try to get my opponents to swing at those higher balls by aiming my shots right at them when I'm at the kitchen line. If I'm successful, they either chicken wing it, it hits them, they hit it into the net, or successfully get out of the way. I probably get the point at least half the time which ain't too bad.

Let me preface by saying that you are my favorite pickleball KZfaqr, because your videos usually offer nuanced insights for higher skilled players, which is a huge gap in the content market. But this series' first installment is a certifiable L. I know, I gotta lay off the Haterade, but let a hater hate real quick: Nobody needs 7.5 minutes to absorb the fundamental concept in this video, which boils down to: "proactively anticipating events greatly improves our ability to effectively react to them" This is not a pickleball-specific concept. This concept applies to all aspects of life - driving a vehicle, pursuing a romantic interest - literally everything. And re: 2:17...who really needs to be told that speed is a function of time and distance, or how time works more generally? I mean, judging by the comments, it seems like it's more than zero people. It's truly a miracle that these people haven't met an early demise due to walking into oncomming traffic, but their mortal longevity is precarious AF. Let's just pray they don't procreate. Hahaha ok I'm officially just kidding - mostly. Anyways, I have faith that your next video's script doesn't so closely resemble essays I bullshitted in 9th grade. Just please don't include a lesson about how we need to use our senses to form a picture of reality, and then use our brains to extrapolate that current reality into the near future by forecastiung potential outcomes, and then decde to act based on the most likely outcome, and then carry out that act by moving our muscles. Cause that's where this video seems to be headed lolol. You're better than that breh!

Actually, you nailed it in your last paragraph (despite using as many big words as you could to sound smart). Thats exactly what you need to be good at this skill :)

@@thatpickleballguy Ohh c'monnn, haha don't do me like that! Big words are fiiiiine, as long as smaller words wouldn't express the same thought more cleary (e.g. the following phrase would be a great candidate for dressing down: "Amatuers think in absolutes, experts think in probabilities". I mean, a phrase like that is clumsier than Genie Bouchard with a pickleball paddle!)🤣 Are we jousting now?!

Against 5-0+ players the difficulty of not hitting an out ball is when everyone is at the kitchen and the ball is deceptively sped up at a crazy fast pace. Those balls are just too fast for me to know if they are going out or not so i hit every one. Sometimes they are hit so fast that the only option is to hit because just getting out of the way quick enough is challenging. Thoughts?
@thatpickleballguy
@thatpickleballguy 3 ай бұрын
Yes. I didn't cover the "kitchen to kitchen" as much in this video. Good news is, I do in my next video, releasing on feb 28. My thoughts: If you wait until after your opponent hits the ball, its too late. YOu don't have enough time (as you mentioned). You'd have to decide before they hit to move. I could go deeper here, but lets wait for the video coming out in a few days. Much more in depth with lots of animations to help clearly explain!
@adambernstein001
@adambernstein001 3 ай бұрын
Thank you. It's almost like move out of the way in advance of hitting forcing them to drop vs speed up. If they drop there's time to get back in position for the shot but not sure if this is possible.
