I played classic violin for 12 years and ultimately the main thing I took away was that all music sounds like something else. There are only so many ways that you can arrange notes so you end up with parts of songs sounding very similar to each other. Must be very frustrating to some composer trying to make original pieces only to wind up with, "Man, this sounds like Harry Potter" or "This reminds me of Skyrim".

Not so sure about the seducing bit, but yeah other musicians, especially French instrument makers, really had a huge rage boner for Adolphe's new toy. So much so that the sax was basically banished from orchestras and woodwind/horn ensembles up to when people noticed 'huh we never really use this thing, so why not?'. You can find some more modern classical music using saxophones and I find that it sounds rather decent.

@Sideways okay I know this a year late, but I have to bring your attention to this even greater coincidence. Around the time that Endgame was coming out, another multi-year story arch was coming to a close in nerd culture. Magic: The Gathering (the trading card game by wizards of the coast) was releasing the final set in the Bolas storyline (basically dragon Thanos but just evil), titles War of the Spark. It was *the* ensemble set, gathering all the old and new "superheroes" (planeswalkers) together to defeat the Big Bad™️. Among the cards in the set that helped highlight the story was one named Commence the Endgame. They also released a cinematic trailer for the set feature, and I kid you not, In The End (albeit a cover) highlighting heroic sacrifice and the end of a major storyline. It's a direct parallel to Endgame, and fits perfectly with so much of the discussion here. I doubt you'll see this any time soon if at all, but the moment you made the connection to In the End my brain ascended.

Personally I heard Are you Coming to Scarborough Fair in the portal scene, which, since it was one of the first songs i learned to sing/play on piano, massively amplified the emotional effect that it had on me

them using that song for the second time in the mcu actually threw me on a loop for a little bit, because the first time they used it was for a different context

I audibly GASPED when u said next gen is the best star trek (very comical response on my part, especially giving what u do with editing right after that) and then started laughing uncontrollably when u linked avengers THE LINKING PARK. WHAT. I think u lost ur marbles. and thank u for that. bless u. awesome video like always.

the funniest thing about the total sound of the example starting at 15:03 to ME is associated with this exhibit about the size of an arcade cabinet at my childhood science museum where there was a fossil nautilus that opened to show how the inside chambers had become opal when it fossilized, but ALSO if i recall correctly, it had a Pepper's Ghost effect to show a reconstruction sculpture of a living nautilus over top Wild how associations work!
