To make the angle even better put the front tires up on blocks 4 to 6 inches would help. Happy Holidays to you your family and your staff

Anyone driving a truck can figure out how to load with ramps and a winch, what haulers need to learn is how to secure them once loaded.

This bed resonates well with us as our first RV Hauler was a 2008 Chevy single-cab with an 11' KM bed and Gooseneck ball mounted over the axle. The biggest issue for us as an RV Hauler was the 11' bed was too heavy for the pin weight of many full-timers rated 5W's and the 2008 engine did not allow the use of an aftermarket exhaust brake due to all of the fault codes generated. It was great though to grab a can of black spray paint anytime there were signs of rust or chipped paint on the bed. This bed on Rudy is the best of the real world since any work needed to be done on the rear of the truck mechanics means much better accessibility.

I love your term "real-world"!!! Not only do we build RVHaulers, we USE THEM TOO! We get great first hand experience testing our new ideas out, and also have years of feedback and suggestions from our customers over the past 12 years. There are lots of fabricators that can make fancy and pretty things, but making them last is a different challenge. Making them so you can upgrade, update, and maintain them is always paramount in what I design and build. For example - remove 8 bolts (that you can easily get to), and look up to the built-in lifting rings, and my entire bed lifts off! Now you can fix the truck when a major repair is needed. I see pretty beds built, who haven't enclosed the wiring to the lights. in a few years, all the wiring has been pummeled by road debris, and the lights don't work. All our wiring is easily fished through in-bed wiring chases that protect the wiring. The little things make the difference in the long range. Thanks for your awesome comment! Gregg

@@rvhaulers Yes sir, watching 100+ of your videos over the years has shown that you are more OCD caring about your work than 99.5% of the RV manufacturers out there. I was in aerospace for 20+ years and had a hard time integrating into the RV World as their quest for weight savings and profit generation made for very poor quality. Your companies' work just seemed natural, "normal", and what would be expected if one would want it to last. The trucking industry has a parallel to aerospace in that the goal is to be very SAFE and last for the LONG HAUL, puns intended!!!

This would be my preferred setup. So adaptable for different scenario’s. Thanks for video. I guess the ramps can go ether side to allow drive on/off without needing to reverse?

Upper box would be handy for extra cleaning supplies if you have a low car, or motorcycle

I've been looking for a HDT that would carry something other then a Smart car. But will a VW GTI or a pair of Can AM Spyders fit back there? Great video keep up the great work

Another awesome and informative video! This is my dream setup with the fiat as we need a 4 seater. What is the overall deck length? Also what is the wheelbase? I’d imagine it’s still pretty maneuverable since you are still going with a single axle. Keep up the great work!!

@@rvhaulers no worries man I’m sure you are crazy busy. How would you say this longer rig drives pulling a large 5th wheel. I have been driving sleepers for years but am not sure how that extra length would handle in tight situations

OMG ty for this video and the other about this truck... my wife is sold on HDT .. but a HARD NO on a smart car... can this be done with the FIAT , without stretching the frame ? Can you do this while leaving the truck tandem axle ?

Hello Anchored (in Muscle)! Thanks for watching my video, and I am so happy to hear the good news that your wife is on-board with the HDT concept. Hey, we are only 15 minutes from the YYC Calgary international airport. We have folks fly here all the time, and I'll pick you up and we can drive some RVHaulers. Come visit! The frame has to be lengthened to accommodate the FIAT. (Even a Smart Car bed often needs another 18-22" of frame added). Yes, we can leave the truck tandem if that is to your liking.
