I've heard that black eyeliner on the bottom makes darker colored eyes look small. A lot of the influences have blue eyes so it doesn't look as small that way

Black will make your eyes look smaller, if you want a more wide open look to your eye try a nude liner and still tight line the top with black. I also think brown eyeliner looks good in the waterline and it’s a little more subtle

If you are using a black eyeliner in the bottom waterline like this, try using a brown eyeliner instead. It gives a similar feel without making your eyes look smaller like black does.

As a makeup artist i literally never use black unless it's a smokey eye. A nude eyeliner makes your eyes look so much more refreshed and awake. ❤

@@harrietxo2310 not as far as i know? Her profile just says that she is a beauty content creator. None of that is important though, i at no point said that her skills or anything were bad. I am just saying as someone who studied makeup artistry i would literally never try to make clients " look hotter" by using a black eyeliner because it does the absolute opposite. Using a black liner makes you look tired, makes your eyes look smaller, and often takes away from softer looks. It also makes people look older which os obviously not something people Want. That makeup with a nude liner would have honestly looked so much prettier. She is just recreating a trend though so it isn't really her that's the issue, the original person she stitched is the one giving bad advice.

I am a makeup artist as well and I agree, I VERY RARELY do dark liner on the bottom outside of a Smokey eye. Some people it works on but on most people it’s going to be too heavy.

They usually have fair skin with olive undertones from some websites I’ve read but even just grabbing some colours that are associated to different seasons and I usually look for if my under eyes looks more blue or dark. If your under eyes looks less tired and more bright it means that colour is harmonious to your colouring x you could be a winter or autumn so just work out of cool or warm tones suit you x If you do your make up or have dyed your hair a colour that doesn’t suit your skin tone. It can throw off, figuring out your colour season because that’s what I struggled with.

The whole point of putting black eyeliner in the lower waterline is to make them look smaller. Same goes for highlight in the inner eyes, it's to bring them more close together. The colors and shades you use are all about knowing your face and eye shape and color theory to create illusions. This looks best for people with far set and big eyes. I'm neither of those so this look makes my entire face look bigger than my eyes. For small eyes, putting a nude or white color will help extend your sclera and open them. Also extending your upper eye liner right under the water line where the lashes are and smudging it. It takes a lot of learning. You have to take these methods with a grain of salt since their knowledge comes from their own standard of beauty not yours.

Highlight inner corner is to add appearance of width, NOT bring closer. As well as light on the inner eyelid itself. To bring closer, you would add DARKER on the inner eyelid, not light.

Here to echo the comment above, highlighting the inner corners of your eyes makes them appear further apart, not closer together. Highlight brings forward, contour recedes.

Idk i have small eyes too but black eyeliner in combination with a smokey eye,sultry lashes and overall tan look makes my eyes very expressive and exotic and i really like this look for an event/nicht.

No makeup side looks better. Putting liner on the inner lids/lash line makes eyes looks smaller. ...Just my opinion.

You are seriously SO FREAKING BEAUTIFUL!!! ❤❤❤ I support your channel cause I love makeup but I just don't look good in makeup. I can do light concealer, sheer or clear lip and some blush and bronzer and that's it really. Nothing else. Every now and again, I'll do a winged liner but that's rare.

Perhaps the reason why you say you just don't look good in makeup, could be because you're wearing the wrong colors. Example if you're warm colors and yet you're wearing cool colors your look is not going to be good and vice versa. You need to get colored matched, and also have someone give you some tips on how to apply the makeup correctly. Every Woman enhances her own Beauty if she puts on the correct colors and uses the makeup in the right way. Give it a try I'm sure you'll find yourself even more beautiful than what you are! I'm sure there's probably people that work at Ulta or Sephora, that would be willing to help you determine whether you're warm or cool color and how to properly apply makeup to enhance your beauty!

No, I feel the same way. Her eyes are more green and out there than when she's done. Both are nice, but I love her natural beauty more. She shouldn't hide her naturally pretty eyes!

Pro tip dust a eyeshadow that is literally just one shade lighter on your eyelids and a gold shimmer for your brow bone. It will give you that dulce 60s actress look

I swear I'm 42 and I quite literally have never stopped doing this same routine.....I was in high school in 90s and this is basically what all the gals done.....the black water line and tight line with a tiny wing only on the outside and of course always the white shadow in the corner (either matte or metallic works) but yeah she literally just called out my basic day to day makeup ...I just never really followed trends and when I did it was my own version of it but this eye has been my exact eye makeup FOR YEARS 😂😂I think it's so cool how makeup trends ALWAYS come right back around about every 20 years❤❤

My Momma only wore eye makeup. I wasn't with her a lot, but my memories were always of here with heavy eyeliner & I thought she was the most beautiful woman ever. So I rock some black eyeliner all over these eyeballs and throw some sparkly fun on top - with copious amounts of mascara 🤣 Been rockin' the 20x hotter for 20 years!

She used 3 different palettes: 1st is a Sephora brand palette that looks like a good dupe of a Charlotte Tilbury color-story. The 2nd is the MAC eyeshadow palette made in collaboration w/Whitney Houston's estate. Finally, the 3rd is the lg. palette from Glamlite's collab w/Mikayla. I recently saw all of them discounted on their respective sites,, hope this helps!
