I just bought a Jupiter 8 for my GH3, and the focus was so stiff that when adjusting it, it kept unscrewing the lens from the adapter. I just finished this little lube trick and 'et voila !' now it is as smooth as a babys bum - good job man

I think WD40 is not for lubrication.

I have a Jupiter-8 "Red P" version from 1954 with the stiff focus problem. The first thing I found is that the ring at the back of the lens does not have the three screws you show in this video. How can I lubricate the focus helicoid?

Thanks for the tip. 2 Questions: 1- Wouldn't that liquid grease reach the lens' diaphragm blades and bleed there? 2- Shouldn't I first remove the dried old grease and then apply new one?

Hi. I just got one today along with a Canon 7 camera. The aperture ring on the lens will only reach f11. F16 and 22 are like "locked" and the aperture ring won't move to those positions. It just reaches the f11. Is there a way to fix it? Thanks.

is a 2 aperture value correctly alligned when it is wide open?

@@RetroFotoHouse Nope. Actually I am thinking that it actually goes up to 22 but it's misaligned because of the f2 which is not aligned

Do you have any advice regarding a Jupiter 8 lens stuck in a Zorki 4 camera, and what to do in such a situation? I tried dissembling it from the front but at some point I couldn't continue anymore. Thanks!

Try to apply a WD-40 liquid between camera threads and lens. In some cases it will help

Can this lens be shorter on the focus then 3ft?

No, im pretty sure almost all rangefinder lenses have a close focus of 3ft/1m

yes, if you use am39 macro ring, but in this case rangefinder will not work

this is not a good method im sorry but it needs to be done properly. dont do this to your lens. you just need to disassemble the helicoid by removing the key screw and unscrewing the helicoid and remembering where it detaches. clean with a toothbrush and gasoline and regrease with good quality lithium ptfe grease. speclub on ebay (for europe), helimax in america, japan hobby tool grease 10 in asia.
