The Best Plan Ever ! When doing a van build or conversion for van life, camping or boondocking there are many details to consider. Finishing the van build or tiny home to a standard you are happy with is so important. We spend hours on our conversion doing things that no one will see when the van is complete. Pulling 12 volt wiring, DC-DC charge controllers and cables. Renogy charge controllers, Coleman solar panels and Battleborn lithium ion or even AGM batteries. Who see those ? And who can do those ? 12 volt wiring can be very intimidating to van builders that have never done it before. Understanding how to and where to pull the wires can be scary. The hours we spend on the DIY kitchen cabinet design, deciding where the dometic fridge will go. Will we have a Maxair fan or a fantastic fan or maybe both. Yes we flush hours designing our van build. Making sure that every part of the build gives us as much as possible in terms of function while keeping the weight down. Too often we spend all that time preparing and then rush to finish. With a little planning the wiring in your van is really one of the easiest things to do. Don’t do that on your build. Take the time on your van conversion to finish the inside you are happy and proud of the results and you’ll get many great years and days camping, overlanding and have a great van life.

If one thing is true it's that there are a TON of ideas options and opinions when it comes to van builds. Are you posting photos anywhere ?

Also worked in the construction trades and had to chuckle when I saw your tool belt hanging in the background. Looks just like mine :)

Have you seen the heat shrink covers with low temp solder incorporated? Solder connect and protect with heat shrink wrap in one shot.

VanDaddy-O !! No I have not seen that !! I sounds like a great idea. I imagine you would need a heat gun, or at least a more constant heat source, for that. Thanks for contributing. Be well

A suggestion I came across on another channel is to use a cigarette lighter port and then plug in an USB adapter so down the road you can use a newer technology adapter.

Rob - yes a cigarette lighter port can be useful. BUT - it's a very low AMP transfer. That's the problem (in my opinion) with the Bluetti - it would take days, maybe weeks, to charge a battery. It makes no "cents" to me to use this system when you can build one with a 50 AMP DC-DC charger that can recharge a 100 AMP / Hour battery in a couple hours. Let me know if you'd like to talk about it. It's much easier than you can imagine. Dave

Thanks again for your knowledge. Can I do a 3-way switch that I can operate from 2 different switches?

Hi Terry - you sure can if you have a plan that calls for one - I've never seen one but it possible - There are 2 things to be careful of: 1. Be sure to buy the proper switch - it's called a Single Pole Double Throw switch (SPDT) - 2. During the roughin you'll have to be very careful about labeling the wires cause there will appear to extra red and the black will actually carry power. I found this video - the guy is wiring his house but it's a remote cabin on 12 volt. The wiring is correct. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gZ2qaaiBq7-Vc4E.html - good luck and be well.
