I show you how I make 2D designs in Fusion 360 then cut them on the Langmuir Systems CrossFire Pro. My goal is to show how you do not have to spend more money to put this amazing plasma table to work. Hope you like it. I will follow this video up with another where I will simplify how I make 3D parts and get them ready to cut on the CrossFire Pro.

Just a piece of information in case you are interested. The field in the software that asked for compensation in computer or control. What that is referring to is tool radius compensation and weather you want the machines control (In control) to take care of that or not (In computer). The Crossfire Pro doesn't do that in its control (Not really necessary for plasma cutting). So you have to offset the path the radius of the torches curf in the computer before processing code. On for instance a milling machine you might want to use the machines offset capability, so you could adjust for wear on the tool. To bring your part into dimension. So in that case the cod would be output to the actual shape of the part (Not offset for the tools radius). If I may make one other suggestion. When you select the start point of your outside profile cut (Or last cut). It would be better to put the start so the last part of that profile is cut from the bulk or main part of the sheet last. Because of stress in the material or heat from the cut the part may bow away from the sheet and distort the shape of your part out of dimension. Not so necessary for the parts you show in this video but if the part is long and slender it will bow away from the sheet and then your making your last cut on a bowed part. If that makes sense. This is always the procedure we use on a wire EDM to reduce part distortion. By the way great video on the software very clear explanation. I'm not a Fusion expert but there may be a function key you can push while drawing a line that will disable the constraint.

Another feature useful with 2D designs is the use of canvas. Especially with the white dots you made on the frame, you can take a picture straight on, import it as a canvas, then calibrate the size of the canvas with the measurements of your white dots. This also helps visualize while doing your designing.

Hello Dave can you make a short video about your compressors casters and platform? I find that extremely interesting, I'm trying to go 100% on wheels in the shop. Many people online suggest against a top heavy compressor on a mobile platform but you seem to be happy with it.

Hello Dave something that bothers me is that 16:32 you say "I always keep the nozzle down" but I believe Langmuir suggests to leave it unselected on machines that have Z axis control

what do you do to edit the sketch when your cutting simulation doesn't pick out all the lines in the simulation (missing certain cutout holes) I've turned the sketch into a 3d body but when simulating it still misses some spots. any help is welcomed. I have a screen recording of what's happening if anyone wants me to send it to them for a critique on what I'm doing wrong!

Get a copy of the machinery's handbook. All the hole sizes you need are in there.

Actually fusion can do that automatically by specifying the bolt size. You can even specify what kind of clearance, normal, close or loose and it will calculate the value. It's better than typing in a value from a paper book because if you ever decide to change bolt, it will automatically update the whole design if you made multiple holes.

When the Pro came out it was the only LS table with THC. I think you can get that on all the tables now. That leaves cut size as the primary thing to think about. Code NTDRacing should get you a discount on either one. Good luck.

When I go to click on the whole part in the geometry tab where it automatically shows the cut paths it won’t let me do this. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?

Make sure that the face of the body that you want to cut is on the X and Y plane. if it is not, use the align function (hot key a) to select the face that you want to have traced, then select the correct plane from the origin (may have to toggle that back on to see it).

What is the least amount of power in a computer that I need to run this system the only reason I ask for the least amount because as most of us or I don't know about most of it anyway me I don't have a lot of money but we're still trying to build system and so I can't afford them you know the mustangs turbos of computers so I need to know you know at least I'd have a guideline on the amount of power ram drive memory all these things I need in a computer to be able to run this system cuz I got to get one before my table gets here thank you bro

I am not the smartest computer guy, but I will tell you that I have been teaching my 8yo how to use Fusion 360 on an old Surface tablet. I don’t think you have to break the bank on a computer. I got mine off of the return shelf at Best Buy for about $420 a few years ago. Here are the numbers from my laptop. Processor 2.3 GHz. 12 GB RAM. Hope this helps.
