Because it’s by far my favourite genre & style of music, I’ve decided to once again revisit Atmospheric Jungle! This time we’re diving deep into the ocean with a 155BPM aquatic style tune loosely based on Earl Grey - My Soul is on Ice. 🌊👇
Time & Space - • Time & Space (Atmosphe...
I really poured my heart into this one with multiple days spent on the track/animations/edits & SFX. The green screen I was able to purchase thanks to my amazing Patreon supporters has made a massive difference with the levels of immersion I am now able to achieve in my vids. I hope you enjoy all the little touches! 😊
This is Part 1 of a 3/4 part series on Atmospheric Jungle. The next couple of vids will go more into Synths & Sound Design, Pads and Drums. 🚀
I've also got a new 90's Style, Aquatic Jungle sample pack which is now up on my website! Almost all the sounds you hear in both the track and the SFX are from this pack. 💎

Finally, check out my Patreon to help support me continue to make video’s like this as we’ll as lots of exclusive content & bonus packs.👇

Another great video G, and thanks so much for the shout out! I have to echo Thought-Forms comment 100% here - I think the best way to learn new musical things is within the context of an actual piece of music. As you demonstrate so well here! From my personal experience, musical concepts only really made sense when I used them to make something, or when I practiced using them. I really loved the dual piano-sine wave instrument in this, it just sounds so... aquatic! Also, I can say that Groovin in G's track for the arcologies comp is total bliss. 🐬Cheers!

I love watching a few mins of a KZfaq vid and being inspired to replicate what their doing. It was actually really fun having all the underwater style fx/textures from my pack ready to go before this project. Like a truely custom sample pack. Cheers cuppajoe, that the whole idea! Take a little inspiration and a few technique here and there and bring them into your own workflows :) Both the glissando idea and the melodies/motifs idea are part of a new philisophy i'm trying with music. I've stopped trying to perfect everything in the DAW with midi or automation and instead record lots of live takes and capture whatever i'm trying to do. Chuck it all back in a sampler or edit the audio and then go from there. It's a bit more of an old school way of doing things but it really helps you commit to an idea and move on. Thanks so much for buying my sample pack also - I hope you like it and I really appreciate the support! 🐬😊🚀

@@grooviningAre all your graphics and animations AI?! (Which one?) Because they look so good and polished, I thought you had an artist do them for each video. 😯 Keep up the good work, these are all always solid, inspiring tips! I’m also loving the recent little KZfaq jungle/d&b community. Regarding resampling - that loop would’ve probably sounded even better resampled through an older crappier sampler, like a Roland S-50, Ensoniq Mirage or an Akai S950. Then again, you would’ve been severely limited by their measly sampling time. And don’t throw everything to Patreon, remember us KZfaq folks too… (paying for Premium after all) 😅

@@groovining Cool, I look forward to it. I produce Bukem-style ambient jungle in Cubase. I do everything ITB because I hate cables. I did have a Moog Sub 25 but it just made wonky non-jungle noises. There's nothing better than a good dense 808 sample IMO. Clean and undistorted a la Bukem. Been doing it a while - I first heard the original (first version) Demon's Theme at a club in Bristol called The Thekla in around 1990-91 and again shortly after at The Fridge in Brixton. It was like I'd landed on another planet. I was 29. Yep I'm 63 now somehow. Keep breathing and it happens to everyone. Great to see this genre has an educated following.

very nice to hear that kind of authentic 1996 atmospheric structure done with modern fidelity. back in the day the damn obligation to dramatically downsample everything to fit the memory pretty much destroyed everything. This kind of music lives off the fidelity.
@groovining
@groovining 4 ай бұрын
Thanks dude! For sure, its all about letting the tune roll - not forcing too many elements in at one time. The opposite of pop really but I think that's why people are drawn to this style as its much more tranquil to listen to. 🌊 I guess in some ways, even though a lot of the sounds were downsampled in the old Akai's etc they benefitted from the saturation & colour of the samplers and analog mixers. Kind of smooths over some of the roughness. In comparison a lot of modern samples & synths are a bit too clinical and computerized so you have to emualte that old style a bit to fit in the sound design. ✌️😊🚀
@morgan0
@morgan0 4 ай бұрын
lately i've been making a bunch of atmospheric pad samples, and i've been pitching them up to have a little aliasing when played at lower notes, otherwise they sound way too clean and dark. and it probably would still sound too dark if i put it in pigments, quick sampler/sampler/alchemy have a really nice tone to their resampling. but i've been making sure that the high freqs end up at a level where the aliasing is at -60 or below, so it's subtle but still there, and it's easy to go too high. but i'm going past the limits of old samplers by making it all stereo and most of them probably longer than they would've been in the past.
@voltagetoe
@voltagetoe 4 ай бұрын
@groovining@@morgan0 imo sampling quality of drums massively dominates tones of all other elements. if an artist just sticks to original chopped 90s mono drum samples, then the emphasis/impact of drums is not sufficient unless everything else is dimmed/reduced to the same relative level. but, if an artist decides to actually go to resample all the drums from original sources (in stereo) and then actually corrects all the missing frequencies.. suddenly all the doors open, everything gets easier, stuff gets alive and breathing. - i ruined/wasted many years/gigs due to starting creation of tracks with 40s, 50s & 60s samples. took a lot of time to realize what the bottleneck is.

@sakkemakke
@sakkemakke 4 ай бұрын
I’ve had the M8 about 1,5 years and for some reason I absolutely love it. Just for the sake that it narrows down options, but at the same time there are quite a few tricks in it sleeves to mangle both internal synths and samples to a point where it gets interesting. It’s obvious that you need some tinkering within DAW afterwards, but most of the compositional aspects comes from M8 and it’s sequencer. Playing/recording chords with M8 is quite tedious, so usually it needs to be done by sampling hardware/software synths. And the layering pads as in your video gets often overlooked just because there’s only 8 tracks - bouncing tracks is always an option, and should def do that more often as bounced samples can be played/sequenced out in various ways and can lead to whole new ideas. But shortly put; there’s no going back staring too much of a large screen with pretty much endless options, too much possibilities restrict me somehow! 😅 Awesome channel you have, just subbed!
@groovining
@groovining 4 ай бұрын
Interesting - thanks for the reply. :) Yea I quite like those workflow restrictions & having to find creative ways to get around them. Resampling is king really - I do this for almost all my chords & pads these days. One really cool thing about bouncing a layered pad - especially one with harmoinc movement & melodic things happening is when you pitch it around all the other bits speed up or slow down along with the pitch. Can give you just really intresting results even with vocal layered in and things like that. I agree for sure with the possibilities - thats why I love Renoise as its similar to the M8 in a lot of ways. Cheers for the sub ✌️🚀😊

Thanks Trident! Ha yea I do love a padfest but melody is also important in this type of jungle. It interesting because it often dosen't want to be a really strong melody like pop or even modern DnB. Yea that tune is killer - the breaks just roll so god damn well. It's always going to be a reference point for me for amazing drums along with a few Source Direct, Photek tunes. 🚀✌️😊

Thanks Cybercowboy_69! appreicate that mate - you'll get there for sure. Consistencey is everything. There's so much good info out there these days, you've just got to stick with it. I made music for probably 5 years on and off before I started this KZfaq channel. Barely finishing a tune and was really struggling with the whole thing. I swapped to Renoise, got rid of my bad habits, changed my mindset. Perseverance is the main thing that got me through that tough period with music. An hour a day makes a massive difference. ✌️🚀😊

I can relate to this. I've been producing for several years too and started going extra hard around the time the pandemic hit. My skills have improved drastically ever since I heard Kanye talked about locking yourself in a room doing 5 beats a day for 3 summers. Not the best strategy for good mental health I must say haha. It's a delight to see how methodical your creative process is and how much detailing you add in your tracks, which makes tunes sound way more interesting to revisit. Thanks for doing these mate. Your videos and the ones from the artists and channel you mentioned force me out of the funk into action! @@groovining

Yea for sure, it's all about the dedication to learning your craft. You've just gotta do the best you can with the time you can carve out in your life and things will start happening. Happy to help & I take a lot of inspiration from those channels myself. Big ups! ✌️🚀😊

Thanks Chris - Hope your well mate! Went super hard on the theme in this on. Runway ai as well as Midjourney help to create a lot of assets and then I layer on top with Photoshop/After Effects. It's really exciting being able to intergrate all this stuff in my channel now ✌️🚀

Cheers Chris - Yea I'm all self taught with the animations/editing so I actually do a lot of simple things without going to hard on the plugins/presets. Track Mattes, Keying, Blending modes etc. I made that mistake when I first started using music so did the opposite. 🚀✌️😊

Oh thanks for letting me know - I just updated it. Appreciate that also, i've been putting a lot of work into imporving my animations/editing. Trying to intergrate lots of Ai tools into my workflow has been really fun. Excited to see where I can take it in the next year or so. 😊✌️🚀

I’m going to check myself but did you make a video touching on how to use logics sampler for playing pads by chance? 4:00 this Pingpong loop you’re showing at the top right seems like a really nice tool to add to my belt 😅🎉
@groovining
@groovining 4 ай бұрын
I didn't go into detail here but it's very easy. Just load a sample into logic's quick sampler and put on 'Classic' mode 'alternate-loop'. Then change the start and end time of the loop as well as using the fades until it's as smooth as possible. You can also sometimes be really clever and match the loop to your track tempo but that can be quite tricky. ✌🚀

I actually used Eleven Labs Ai for this. It's pretty incredible for this kind of stuff. I also used little alterboy by soundtoys to process the speech. Leave the formant and just move the pitch and you can really ruffen up the Ai voices to sound more authetic. ✌️😊🚀

Would like to contribute here by adding Spinscott to the list kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eq1lksqCv7C0gps.htmlsi=uBS2oxl-Iuk2BHEa . Scott improvises 90's style atmospheric Jungle on an MPC, no loops. It's bonkers.
