i literally just forgot to edit a visual onto the clip at 1:59 so please enjoy those secret private messages with my significant other i guess Also, thing I forgot about: When messing with UVs on a mesh that has a subdivision surface modifier, you may want to experiment with changing the subsurf mod's "Options": dropdown from smooth to sharp if things aren't behaving how you want them to.

I forgot you could pin UV vertices. Thanks for showing how useful it is. Also, I haven't seen data transfer used before. Always wondered what it was for. You can press L and it will add the mesh region under the cursor to the selection. It's just a little more direct than selecting things and then hitting Ctrl L.

I can relate, I have like 20 tabs open following a bunch of random tutorials on body, making the hair, clothing, texturing, etc while Blender is open. My laptop is beefy but I have the fans set to maximum speed and I can feel all of the hot air, even worse with a summer heat, lol. Have to have the air conditioner on all day basically.

at around 19:20 you get the pixels because the Uv's aren't complete straight. You can solve this problem by having a higher res texture. Or most importantly every Uv island is complete straight.

you could have a pixel editing program so each pixel is the same shade

How did you do your character's eyelids? Dikko uses the eyball to make the eyelid but yours doesn't have an eyeball.

i didn't make eyelids, just an open cavity for the eyes along with a disconnected shape for the upper eyelashes that was made from scratch

Keep in mind texturing and shading are two completely different things. You don't have to choose one or the other.

you can pretty much just skim through my older videos to see its evolution, there was a period where it was difficult to do at all and then after a while it started to sound kinda forced and then eventually i became more comfortable with it and now it's just normal

if i were to colour my object via material, would this cause problems to the avatar?

do you mean setting a color for each object in blender's material settings? you could do that but it'd be very inefficient, if it's just gonna be one solid color for each piece of the model you'd be better off just making a very simple texture file and applying UVs to it. it's best to have as few materials as possible, within reason (mine has like 6 in total). if you're talking about just using blender's material settings to assign a temporary color just for working in blender, that'd be fine and you can just change it later anyway

I was just messing around with blender and I find modeling the base body to be relatively simple… time consuming but not too hard (except hands fuck then) but the clothes and texturing has been so damn annoying.
