I watched thousands of these before starting my leash and they looked so difficult. Yours is THE BEST! It took me as much for the first inch as to finish the leash but I love the result. Gratefully!

This was very easy to follow! It's definitely the easiest dog leash tutorial I've seen so far. I just did this one for my little schnoodle and it turned out awesome! I'll be using the 8 strand one for my other two dogs since they are much bigger. Thanks so much!

Hi, I will keep that in mind:) the reason I dont talk is because my preferred learning style is to read instructions and watch it being done. When I started the learn how to use paracord I would watch a lot of videos and most of them have people talking, and although there are some good ones, I didnt like not being easily able to find where a certain piece of information was said when I needed to rewatch part of a video and I also found it hard to find the type of videos I was looking for. So it inspired me to to start making my own videos in the way I like I to learn:)

Barbara I couldn’t agree more, if I lived in a two story house, I’d have jumped out the window. I think I’ll look for some thing like written words with illustrations, I used to buy books that I could read and learn from. I was born before JFK was killed, I’m probably not wired for lessons delivered this way.

Hi thanks for the video instructions about to give this a go. Question if I was to use 3 colours and double up on 2 of them is it correct I would need to use the FID to weave it back through starting further down the thread.

Hi, If you have one use a fid, if not i would use needle nose pliers, craft stores tend to have nice thin ones. I used to use pliers before i bought fids and they worked well, have fun making your leash, it sounds really cool!!

Is simply weaving the cord back through strong enough to hold together for a stronger dog? What's the biggest dog you would use this method for?

Hi, paracord is very strong, it has a breaking strength of 250kg (550 pounds). I have never had an issue with a leash unravelling, if you are worried you could always weave the ends back through the leash further than what I do, I have a kelpie who used to pull very hard on her leash during walks and the leash never came apart, the biggest dog I have made a leash for was a large mastiff, they also have no problems as far as I am aware. I personally would use paracord on any size dog, I believe they are far stronger than your common leashes found in a store that is usually only held together by about an 1 inch length of stitching at the clip and handle.

Great video until the end,where your hands are off screen. I tried doing it like I thought you were trying to show us. Burnt the ends. Gave the leash a good tug and😢 it unraveled!

I bought my cord 2 months ago, I still haven’t gotten a thing to show. This is rated as easy, not for me. I don’t try every day , I have tried maybe 5 or 6 times. Every time, just like this time, I spend about a hour before I’m so frustrated, I considered throwing it all in the trash. I swear those demonstrators are doing slight of hand to confuse me. There must be some kind of mental block in my head because I can’t more than square knot, and half the time they are wrong. A week or so later when I get out my paracord again, I pick out another easy project, the demonstrator will say so this is a great place for the first timer. I feel like such an idiot, I can’t even tell anyone, I’ve seen small children do this, I’m so embarrassed. What you guys do seems impossible to me, maybe I should just throw it all out. I hope one day I can put something out there, besides a hangman’s noose around my own neck.

Hi, great vid, real easy to follow. Awesome colors too. The only thing I would do, is add a " turks head" knot at the Y on the handle and also at the clip... That's me, just sayin.. Other than that, good job, keep the vids coming...

No worries, all you need do is on the first step when you fiind the middle of the cords hook the carabiner around the cords at that point (0:37 in the video where the two cord over lap) then begin the braid, just skip the making the handle part of the video and continue the braid all the way down. The just switch the snap hook and the bottom of the lead for carabiner. Hope this helps, let me know how you go:)

Paracordingaround could u do a video on a emergency throw rope with caribeners on both end a lot of people from a video wanted to know how to make one I would really love it if u did that and I would tell everyone who wants to know how to make it that U have a vid for it

Hi, that is very kind of you to offer to share one of my videos, unfortunately I am not able to make an emergency throw rope video as i'm a big believer that any equipment made for a solely life saving purpose should never be home made unless the person making it has the proper training/qualifications to make it correctly. I'm always happy to take video requests and if I think its something I think I would be able to make I will do my best to make a video for it:)

The cords are so long.. do you have a method so they dont keep getting tangled up at the bottom? (Other than pulling them apart with every weave?)

Hi, yes I do, tie up each of the ends with rubber bands or hair ties and just let a couple feet out at a time. I do this when I make this leash in a 7-metre length. I don't untangle it after each weave as I found that takes too much time. If you only let couple feet out at a time, do as many weaves as you can until its all tangled, then untangle, let out a bit more cord continue. Ive found this the quickest.

@@Paracordingaround Thanks for the quick reply. I am making 3 ropes, each 5 feet long for a hanging chair. I did the first one last night and I felt like I could have done it way faster if I wasn't constantly detangling the cords. I will try your suggestion with the other 2 tonight. @@Paracordingaround Actually, I do have another question. When you are working with something of this length, what is your set up? (Like.. do you have one end tied to something, do you just let the braid fall as you make it, do you sit/stand, etc.) I tried a few different things but I found it's too long to put on a jig. I basically sat and let the formed braid lay out on the table and the cords were at my feet. Standing did seem to keep the cords untangled for longer, but that causes stiff neck/back and tired legs.

@@DJ_Skeet I use a workbench that I got from the hardware store thats tall enough to stand at or use a stool. Behind the bench I have a metal peg board that has a 'circular tool holder' attachment on it and if im working on a leash from the snaphook end I will attach the snap to the holder and if im working from the hande end ill just feed the leash through the holder as I'm making it. I have a gap between the wall and the bench so the leash goes between them which keeps the bench nice and tidy.

This was a worthy effort and I did get some benefit from watching it. However, towards the end, your presentation fell apart . We could not always see what you were doing, because your hands were out of view. Also, it would have been nice to see the leash, not folded up, but stretched to full view so that we could see the detail.

Your working out of frame or very nearly out of frame the majority of the time spent on camera. It's a shame too. I've watched a few of your videos, and I really like your stuff, but I feel like I'm constantly trying to look "down behind" at what is really just "off camera".
