How to Make a Beard Oil with Essential Oils

Learn how to make your own beard oil with essential oils to keep your partner’s beard soft - so it doesn’t scratch your face! In this recipe we are using essential oils and 1 carrier oil, but you can also use other carrier oils that are nutrient rich and softening to the rough hair that grows on his face. 🧔🏻‍♂️
What’ll you need:

Ingredients:
Sandalwood Essential Oil
Atlas Cedarwood Essential Oil
Bergamot Essential Oil (make sure it is bergaptene free! That means the photo-toxic molecule bergaptene has been isolated out, so the oil can be safe to use on the skin)
Apricot Kernel Oil

Other great carrier oils to use are: Avocado Oil, Pumpkin Oil, Argan Oil and Jojoba Oil - what carrier oils have you tried? Please tell me if you have other ingredient questions or suggestions!

When using good quality carrier oils you cannot go wrong. Comes down to your viscosity/thickness personal preference while balancing hair and skin oiks. Where it get much more difficult is once you add essential or fragrance oils. Potency used and allergies can be dangerous. Doing it the right way should be measured by weight, not drops. And should follow the IFRA regulations, which can get so complicated once you start mixing essential oils with different potency levels. It becomes a difficult math equation. For example, with the IFRA latest 49th amendment, 6 drops of bergamot would be likely well over the new allowance. the bergamot EO potency got slashed. I’m glad you mentioned phototoxicity! Loved the info on the essential oils, great job!

Thanks for your great comment, and for mentioning these very important concerns. I've been a product formulator in the clean/natural space for 10 years so I know how important is it to follow IFRA, measure by weight and percentages, and understand the EU concerns about Essential Oil allergens. But for this quick, DIY at home recipe, I trued to keep things simple for the home user. And if anyone is interested in really deep diving into formulating essential oils for skin care, just email me at amy@amygalper.com - and I'd be happy to suggest more recommendations, and ways to get more info. I've just started this channel, and your comment has made me realize that I should probably explain more about drops vs. percentages and weight, IFRA standards and what's acceptable, and more formulating tips. @@officialamygalper you’re absolutely welcome! I do fully know the tone and intent with your DIY and I love that! I just always error on the side of safety when it comes to liability. I have been to court over my channel before (all worked out well!) and it’s not a fun process.

Do you have a recipe for a beard balm? The men in my life all use beard balms. My husband loves those that smell like tobacco. Do you have an essential oil that has a strong tobacco scent?

There is a tobacco absolute! this works: www.edenbotanicals.com/tobacco-absolute.html. A simple recipe would be 47% jojoba, 25% argan, 25% sunflower, vitamin e 1% and 2% essential oil!

If you don't have Atlas Cedarwood Essential Oil can you substitute with Cedarwood deodara or Juniperus virginiana? Also for the bergamot is the bergatene-free the same as Furocoumarin-free oil?

Yes both those oils would be great substitutions - and yes, bergapeten free is the same as Furocourmarin free!

Hi Amy, I have question about rosemary oil. I heard rosemary oil when applied topically blocks DHT. I don't want to block DHT but I still want the benefits of rosemary used in a diffuser. If you inhale rosemary oil, will it still block DHT?

Thanks for watching....I am not entirely sure that the essential oil does this...maybe other phytochemical compounds in the whole plant do. I need to research this - but in my 20+ years of experience I have not come across this. but that doesn't mean that it couldn't be true?? Stay tuned as I dig into this.

@@officialamygalper an oil to slow down the growth or get rid of facial hairs (mustache, beard)

@@officialamygalper you will want to focus on potent DHT (the testosterone that created facial hair) blockers. Internal is always more impactful of course, but there are topical DHT blockers as well.
