Many thanks. Love the detail eg different ways to cut around the bezel, heating the base plate , who hasn’t melted the bezel wire . Good camera work too and you use the same equipment we plebs use.

Thanks John! I'm actually married to a professional film editor so have access to professional kit but I much, much prefer using my pleb equipment :D I'm all about the instant point and shoot!

It seems most places only sell 0.3mm thick bezel wire and for me it seems so thin ! What were you using in this video Kim ? Thanks

Thanks for a GREAT tutorial!! After I cut off and filed the base I noticed I left file marks on the wall of my bezel and I think you mentioned that you could sand the bezel if that happens? Is there a certain grit that I should use to do that? Thank you so very much!💕

Hi! There are many options for polishing, a great affordable option is to use polishing papers: www.kernowcraft.com/products/silversmithing-and-tools/all-silversmithing-tools/item/pack-of-polishing-papers Here's our guides and tutorials on polishing: www.kernowcraft.com/jewellery-making-tips/texturing-patina-finishing-advice

Many thanks! I’ve noticed that when I use the pusher it leaves marks and dents on the bezel wall. How could I avoid this from happening?

Hi! A burnisher is a great tool to polish out any marks during the setting process, just rub over the metal to smooth and shine 😊 www.kernowcraft.com/products/metal-clay/item/burnisher-c166

Hiya, very nice work, both the silver & the video. Could you have soldered the base on from underneath using a tri-pod & gause? I never could spell. Also when you soldered on the washer? Or you could throw it on the floor? You mentioned you teach in person but do you do YT lessons other than here? You should!

Thanks Stephen, yes a tripod can work well. The reason I didn't use one is that people are often told it's the only way to do it and then people who don't have one feel like they can't solder bezel settings. I have tripods and mesh at all my studios but we rarely bother using them as learning good torch control is often more beneficial and larger base plates can warp on when heated on tripod mesh which then results in gaps between your base and bezel. I don't do any other regular videos at the minute but I'm planning to set up my own youtube channel soon and I've been doing online private tuition via zoom for students who need a troubleshooting session or want to learn new techniques.

@@makeitwithkim-jewellerysil3126 Hiya, what a great reason & not just tripods I know of one channel, a full time silversmith who uses a Smith little torch & never gives any help or advise if you are using a small butain torch. Talking of witch when I need a larger torch I think I will be getting a 'Go system' rather than two gas. A few people show the Sievert in use melting down but never with a smaller nosul/flame, even though they refer to people using their kitchen table never a thought to insurance or impractacality etc for twin gas set up. I love that you do think of us who are under restraints of small/rented homes, really using kitchen table. You think of small as well as large, thank you. Take care & stay safe... Steve...
