How to make a braided hose for scale models
#Tamiya #RC166 #Motorcycle model
I am currently building Tamiya's Honda RC166.
RC166 uses a braided hose.
If you use the kit as is, it will be a transparent tube.
I was wondering how to make a braided hose.
My friend used a stereo microscope to draw patterns on a 1.2mm hose, which is possible for someone who draws eyebrows on 1/12 figures, but I don't have the patience for that.
Here's an easy way to make it look like a braided hose.
If you like it, please try it.
material
HIQ parts mesh wire white 1mm
Paper craft bond, woodworking bond (diluted with water)
Enamel painting (clear type)
procedure
① Apply bond to the mesh wire and let it dry.
② Paint with enamel
③ Wipe off excess paint
④Apply the bond again
That's all.

On my (real) Harleys I only installed wire mesh hoses made of stainless steel. But your plastic fabric hoses look absolutely real.

thank you. The good thing about plastic material is that it can be painted and is thin. Similar products were also sold at craft stores. However, I think stainless steel mesh looks good on Harleys.

You could also just cut up a cheap braided necklace from China they are very cost effective and come in loads of different colours 😊

Have to find some mesh wire now, braided line is expensive and hard to find.

Mesh wire for models is sold for around $3 in Japan. You can also find it at craft stores. I hope you can find a good mesh wire.

クラフトボンドは一回目も最後も拭き取らないです。綿棒を当てているのは、ボンドを付けすぎた所を吸っているだけです。ありがとうございます。
