How to Make a Cheap and Easy Design Wall with Diane

In this informal, friendly and chatty video I share with you the process of making a cheap and quick Quilting Design Wall. I use the minimum of equipment...I made it by myself and it took exactly 45 minutes of my time. If you are considering creating one but are unsure where to begin...please take a look...you might be inspired!!!

That’s all I have as a design board and it’s been up for years. It won’t hold large quilts but just a pin or two works wonders and really it is a DESIGN BOARD, not a storage board! 😂

Welcome home Diane, you got stuck in straight way in that heatwave, hats off to you. It looks so neat and hopefully will do the trick. Love your ‘Mexican inspired top’ and the dress has its merits 😂, it will be interesting to see what comes out of your stash. Roll on Birmingham, not to long now.❤

Use the heavy duty spray, similar to 505 to hold it up whilst working..

Thank you Marti, simple things first to see if they work 😊. The portable polystyrene sheets might work for you...or perhaps the bulldog hanging method over a wardrobe? I am looking forward to trying out my new space and see what happens.👍

Im glad your sister is doing well and you made it home safely. Your dress was very pretty, even if it did sorta get in your way😊. I think your design wall should hold up fine, probably ironing that project will help it adhere. Im kinda surprised that the straw insulation doesn't keep your rooms cooler. But you were a trooper😂 carrying on in the heat anyhow. See you next week.

Thank you Angela, glad to be home and sewing. Looking forward to using the wall. This house is built to keep us warm... deep insulation in the loft space keeps us extra toasty in the winter and nicely cooked in the 🌞😄👍

I think your wall looks great Diane , 30 deg blimey ! The hottest got here in Byrness, was about 24/25 we just are not used to it are we but its lovely your back xx

Lol, you do make us laugh - you're only going to use already bought fabrics until Festival of Quilts....it's galloping towards us so fast.... I've been trialling a "portable" set up using a rod and large bullclips. The concept works where I have to use it (I have a wall of wardrobe doors which I put hooks over then drop the rod into) Haven't quite got the batting/felt/flannel choice yet but there's plenty of time to experiment as it's no bother to put up/take down.
