Thank you Leila, I contacted my local PL chapter and asked what sort of quilts they would like. They explained their criteria...then they supplied me with labels... sometimes they offer batting and fabric. My Chapter supplies, hospitals, hospices, care homes, schools, prisons...all sorts...lots of people out there needing a hug🤗. Hope that helps.😊

Your design wall came in handy for the designing of the quilt. I like your use of black fabric, I think it adds a dramatic element. It looks to me like angel wings. Very cool. Thank you for the binding tutorial. I always hand sew my binding as it is one of my favourite parts of quilting. I find it very relaxing. My least favourite part is the actual quilting but only if it is a big quilt. It’s a bit of a struggle on my domestic sewing machine and I’m not usually pleased with the finish of it. ❤️
@dianedavis595810 күн бұрын
Hi Angela, the wall was really useful...so glad I took the plunge😊. I love the thought of angel wings holding a troubled teenager...❤. Have you had any success hand embroidering your quilts together...like the Victorian Crazy quilts? I have been thinking of doing something like that..(when it gets cold)😊. It might suit you if you find hand stitching relaxing...just a thought 🤔.
@angrob330410 күн бұрын
@@dianedavis5958 Hi Diane. I have incorporated some embroidery onto some quilted cushion covers and I am thinking of embroidering something on maybe a baby quilt. The possibilities are endless. I have also made one full sized English paper pieced quilt for my daughter. That ended up way too much hand sewing for my liking 😄.

Binding might be limited/determined by the amount of fabric available! I've been recycling and often don't have enough fabric to do that method of binding & have to create a length of bias binding from a square. If the binding is thinish, I'll also round the corners of the quilt so no mitres or corners to do!
@dianedavis595810 күн бұрын
Hi SNK, yes this method does have its limits...you do need enough to wrap around to the front. 🙄 You can add pieced material to create fabric to the back (I have done that before on upcycled quilts) but it's much easier if you don't have lots of seams getting in the way. Your biased binding and rounded corners sound very interesting 😊👍

Good morning Diane, the quilts look great and I think the square within a square adds something to the whole backing, 😅 that darn turned out darn good. I was in the middle of binding a quilt, which for me is the worse part when I remembered it’s Saturday, so stopped the binding, made a cup of coffee and found you on utube, so am now de stressed and ready to finish the binding. Have you done a video in binding, I would be very interested to see how you tackle it. Good luck with re opening your shop, I am sure you will do very well, hopefully people can find you on Etsy. Bye for now and thank you for making Saturday mornings so pleasurable.❤

Aw, thanks! I think Tony Hart would have appreciated your artistic flair! I think that fabric fault was there for a purpose - the square in a square patch really makes the backing pop. So, not just a UFO a Special Vision On UFO. ❤

Another two beautiful quilts. The challenges of quilting can be truly galling at times but you solved the flaw on the back in such a genius way.
