Wouldn't the brazed filling melt if you are brazing the lug later with the rest of the tubing?

That would be the case if you used the same brazing alloy but for these lugs I use a silver brazing alloy which flows at a lower temp

Basically that is correct. And yes it is the original way to join lightweight steel tubing before advances In welding technology

Well I haven't considered selling my lugs as a separate item as they are made from scratch. However I am happy to do a commission. Get in touch if you want to discuss it further

If you buy an ornate investment cast lugged bottom bracket shell you get a single piece of metal that includes the fancy bits; this is just a different way of arriving at the same thing, a bottom bracket shell with ornamentation. I expect he'd put a custom cutout in the bottom of the shell if you asked nicely, as long as you sign a waiver about dirt getting in.
