Very nice. Would love to see an update with plants in the planters. I am hoping to do something similar around my fire pit. I hate just having the chairs on the grass. Nice job.

Hey silly question, depending what climate area u live in, do u plan to use this area only in colder months or also in summer time. We r down in Texas and temps are running this year over 100 some times. But nights are different temps. I was confused should make one at all use it during summer time or just wait till Texas colder months but hey great videos and your project!!

Hey man, looks great! I read where you said you don't get many stones in the yard, but what about mowing? Any issues running a mower around that edge? I want to do something like this, and I figured I'd need to dig down and put some sort of border around it (paver edging or whatever), but, based on your video, maybe not. Oh, also, how much stone did you end up using?
@HowToHomeDIY
@HowToHomeDIY 2 жыл бұрын
Nope, no issues with slinging stones. I try to spray the border so I dont have to get to close to it. I forget the exact amount, I just remember I got two full pickup truck loads and I could have used a little more just for more depth.

Looks good. About what I want to do. Future thought, have your buckets cut and ready. Then dig your hole for the poles, place barrel over hole and put the post in the barrel and ground instead of trying to carry the barrel and dropping it on the pole. Good work though
@HowToHomeDIY
@HowToHomeDIY 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I had thought about doing that but wanted to make sure when I back filled I would be able to fill it all and compact the dirt and also get my stones under the barrels. Those whiskey barrels are no joke as far as size and weight goes. So anyways, that's why I ended up with doing what I did. I do appreciate the input and feedback! I always welcome the work smarter not harder mentality! If you end up doing this, let me know how it goes!

I instantly thought same... but realized that doesn't allow for filling, tamping etc, the pole in place.

Yeah we talked about putting some in but it was November and when I added up how much it would be to fill them just for them to die a few weeks later due to winter, we decided it just didn’t make fiscal sense. Sorry about that. We definitely wanted to.

I’m not concerned with it. I use salt water to kill the vegetation around my house as it works really well and without any safety concerns. I have a video on it from over a year ago. Sometimes I use chemicals and they typically evaporate within 24 hours. I am glad you like the setup though. Thanks for the feedback Phil.

I would either hire someone to kill the grass or wear a chemical hazard suit with gloves before using any type of vegetation killer. Most of them are carcinogenic.
