HOW TO MAKE A FOLD DOWN TABLE FOR A DIY CAMPER VAN - An easy-to-build, 1-afternoon project

Just a short video showing the newest addition to our Sprinter Camper Van. It's a super easy to build table that folds down from the back of our kitchen cabinet when the slider door is open, allowing us to cook meals outside of the van in good weather.
On hot days, it's nice to keep the hot cooking surface outside to keep the van from warming up too much. And it's just nice to be outside too!

I have an idea for your fold-down table (fdt). Since you can't always get a level parking spot, if the ground is sloped to the left or right relative to the direction your van is pointing, you can add a small panel of wood to the vertical plane where the table brace braces, thus making the table surface parallel to the ground. If the van is sloped in the other direction, you'd have to allow for that in the design. thanks for the video.

Hey man, question, is your cooktop really working at 600W, 900 or 1200? Because i have one that always takes around 1200W even if i put it on 600W. What it does is it just swings between 0 and 1200W but not a constant 600W.

Hi Robert - Yes this cooktop can be set at any of those wattages and that is all it will draw. It's linked in the description if you want more info on it.

Does the cabinet latch make noise while traveling? We are also rattle averse :). Thanks!

Happily, no it does not rattle. There is enough tension on it (or “spring” in the plywood) that it holds tightly against the latch to prevent any movement or noise.

We got that at Menard’s Hardware. I’m sure Lowe’s, Ace or Home Depot would have them as well.
