Thanks for the video. Only thing I would like to suggest to make it a little faster and easier on the body.... When putting the fingers in the bottom plate, use cooking spray or oil and instead of pulling the fingers through, just push them in from the top and tap them with a rubber mallet if you need to. I have arthritic hands si I have to save them wherever possible.

Here's a machinist tip when drilling holes. Get a can of WD-40 and spray it on the B when you're drill in the hole. Just one little shot of WD-40. Not only does it keep the drill bit Sharp it also causes it to cut a lot better and it will degrade into the metal a lot better. Which means quicker. This works on All Metals steel as well as aluminum
@williambixby3785

I’m glad to hear that WD-40 is good for something… because it sucks as a penetrating oil 😂
@thefreese1
@thefreese1 Жыл бұрын
@@williambixby3785 it sucks as a lubricant period.... but does work good for drilling holes or as cutting fluid on the metal lathe .... I used it back before computerized ignition systems were installed in cars .. I the distributor cap for water in it , you could spray it in the cap and it displaces the water.. almost good as a cleaner for old grease and oil buildup... If you need a good penetrating oil , use Seafoam It really penetrates But the thing it's supposed to be used for , its doesn't work

So I thumbs up’d your video for creativity and effort, but honestly my time is worth money. In my opinion, the time it takes to put all of this together, pay for the extra parts, and overall engineering it makes more sense to buy one. This would take me no less than 8 hrs. I’d say 16 hrs to perfect it. Pretend I make $50 per hour on my day job that’s 16 x $50 = roughly $800 and that’s conservative. Love your build and your enthusiasm to teach us, but to me it makes more sense to buy it.

This was pretty much my conclusion. I have a small farm, (we don't even do anything commercial, don't mess with cows or sell anything now, and our primary focus is our own horses), and I'm already up to my neck in a mile long to-do list. I can pull on my boots with one project in mind, then discover a flat on the tractor or a tree down on a fence line. It's always one thing or another and the plan I woke up with can go out the window pretty fast! 😄 Fun and interesting to watch other's peoples' projects during my morning coffee or during a break, but I'm just going to buy one of these.
