How to make a homemade parachute

It's time to learn how to make a proper parachute, it's one of the easiest projects of all times, cheap as well. So we will drop it from a drone because it's big, normally I will throw it my self, but it might not have time to open, so dropping it from a drone will elevate it enough to make a good parachute drop.
I'll also used some electronics to make a flashing light to make the parachute visible at night time.
This parachute is excellent for a cansat project.

What did you use to initiate the release of the parachute package?

When I drop it from the drone using a servo and an elastic band, the parachute stars to open because of the air, first the strings start to unroll and then the air open the parachute.

@@Joyplanes i guess , the question is how does it get dropped from done when you tied it with drone. what action triggers the drop. Thank you in advance for answering the question

@@marvisingh294 A servo connected to the receiver, when I flip a switch it realizes the parachute.

Really nice! :) I used to make lots of parachutes when I was a kid. :) But we (myself and my friends) used to throw them in the air with our on hands. :)

So I did, I didn't have a drone by the time, but I could drop it from a second floor.

I’ve actually had okay aerodynamic stability on square parachutes with 4 lines, but I have noticed some wobbling. I’ll have to try this design when I do my RC jet ballistic parachute recovery system challenge!

A hole at the parachute's canopy's apex is called a vent.

i made a miniature version of that with some tesa ( like that seethrough tape), a Cap of a pen, 1 long string cut into 4 smaller strings, and a plastig back that i ripped to make it look like a circle... I made everything *before* watching this video

Interesting that the parachute just needs to be cut in a purely round shape. I thought round parachutes have a more complex shape to help with quick opening

Actually the real one is made out some sort of triangular shapes. To make a better bell shape. The new ones the T-11 is a square shaped parachute very big.

@@Joyplanes i road a t11 on the last 5 jumps i had in the army. so soft so easy. you can even unbuckle the chest strap to increase the softness of the landing.

It lacks the canopy apex hole, with a 0 porosty canopy is extremely important, will reduce oscillation and the "pumping" effect. Take a look at real chutes like the T7 and you will better understand my words.

What an amazing job. I have 2 questions. Can you reuse the parachutes? The other question is can I use this parachute for 12 kg?

You can reuse them, 12 Kg is too much for this size.

i used to make parachutes like this, but in a rectangular shape, and it flies. i believe yours could fly as well, the thing that make it fall that quick is payload. you're overloading your parachute so the drag force is so big. next time, try to lower your payload and you'll be surprised that those plastic parachutes could fly, i don't mean gliding, i really mean flying, just like paragliders. it's all a matter of loading your parachute with the right payload, not too heavy and not too light. i flew lot of them when i was kid, especially on windy days.
