Love your videos! So practical! I was thinking you guys should consider doing "medical emergency spanish" good enough to ask for help in public or call emergency services. "He/She has fallen and is unresponsive" "She has broken xyz" "He/She cut xyz" "He/She is bleeding". It's your channel do what you want but it could prove very useful. I know that particular topic of video may be difficult to make. However that video may save a life (possibly several).

I would really like it if you did a video of checking out at the grocery store. The checker usually asks me something before she starts that I never understand. Sometimes I think it has to do with a store card but I'm never sure. Then when she finishes she has a little pleasantry that she says but I never understand. I just act like I do hehe. Also when I give a tip to the bagger they often use the same phrase. I'm sure it's something like "have a good day" but they speak so fast I never catch it. Also Spanish phrasing is never the same as in English. I think sometimes it would help if you were to give a lesson on how something is phrased in English as apposed to Spanish. I often know the words to use but not the correct phraseology. An example from this video would be "Puedo pagarlo con tarjeta?" Can I pay with a card? but the literal translation would be more like "Can I pay for it with card" I really think this is what is keeping me from being more fluent.
@SpanishandGo
@SpanishandGo 5 жыл бұрын
We appreciate the suggestion. That one is on our list. As for what they are probably saying to you at the grocery store, the first part is probably having to do with a store card. After you pay, they often say ‘que le vaya bien’ this basically means ‘have a good day.’ You might find this video helpful. In it, we talk about this phrase and many other greetings and goodbyes: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/npuCZdSq1Z-yiYE.html ¡Saludos! -Jim

I love this video! One of the biggest hurdles for me in learning Spanish is when to use the subjunctive. My question is for the 1st sentence highlighted: "Quiero ver si tiene cuartos disponibles." -- How come the subjunctive isn't used for the verb tener if it is now known if there are rooms available or not initially?

What is the difference between de una vez and ahora?
@SpanishandGo
@SpanishandGo 5 жыл бұрын
'De una vez' is used when talking about something that is going to happen right now. It has a sense of urgency. It would also be grammatically correct to use 'ahora' in that sentence, but in Spanish people also use the word 'ahora' meaning 'today.' For example, '¿Vas a ir a trabajar ahora?' - 'Are you going to go to work today?' So if you say '¿El pago se hace ahora ...?' the other person could undestand it as 'Do I have to pay today...? If you really wanted to use the word 'ahora' in that sentence, you could use it as 'ahorita' which in this situation also has a sense of urgency meaning 'right now'. Hope this helps! ¡Un saludo!

What amenities do you have question... Why tienen? Isn’t that 3 person plural? Shouldn’t it be tiene? 3 person singular. In asking if rooms were available tiene was used (3rd person singular)
@motogriso1
@motogriso1 5 жыл бұрын
Is it “What are the amenities they have here at the hotel?” Perhaps “you have” is not the literal translation.
@SpanishandGo
@SpanishandGo 5 жыл бұрын
¡Hola! '¿Qué amenidades tieneN aquí en el hotel?"' is used this way often at hotels, restaurants, stores, etc. assuming that there's more than one person who works there. It'd also be like saying "What amenities do you guys have...?" Like when you go to a store and you want to know what time they close you can ask "¿A qué hora cierran?" implying that there's more than one person working there. :) ¡Gracais por vernos!
@motogriso1
@motogriso1 5 жыл бұрын
Spanish and Go. Tienen and cierran are ellos, ellas and ustedes. So I think you are saying this is a ustedes use where as an English speaker I would think Vosotros would be used since I am talking to one of the employees directly but Vosotros is not used in Latin America and ustedes is in its place. I don’t see how I will ever become fluent. 😂🤔😢
