In this video I turn a cheap $2 hockey mask from Amazon into a pretty accurate part 8 Jason mask, including leather straps and buckles. There are many videos of talented people making Jason masks, however, a lot of people often buy screen accurate blanks and kits which include everything you need from leather straps and buckles, to the exact chevrons of the corresponding mask. There is nothing wrong with purchasing these kits, but as an artist I take pride in creating these masks myself. I feel there is a difference between actually making the mask, and just painting and assembling the mask. I will alter the shape and size of the mask. Re-shape the nose and eyes to resemble that of the film. I will use items I found on the clearance rack of stores, local thrift shops and some items and tools I found around the house. I will create the chevrons myself and I will not purchase any parts from any mask makers. Check out my video and save over $100 making your own screen accurate mask. My mask is not 100% perfect but it looks great for a cheap blank. It is also not exactly a step by step tutorial but I’m sure you will get the idea. Much like I was inspired by others to make this mask, I hope my video can inspire someone else to make a pretty cool mask themselves.
Key items: Epoxy putty, Dremel, Halter Square.
Shoutout to BigHush and CS5 who’s videos inspired me to start making masks and upload videos of my own.
