How to make a Kayak Anchor Float - DIY

In this video, I show you how to make a detachable kayak anchor float made with the following materials:
Pool noodle $1
Carabiner $1
1" PVC about 18 inch ~$1
Single Ball Bungee ~$2-3
Tools used:
Dollar Store Hack Saw
Pliers or Wire cutters or Knife
Drill
The anchor and rope was purchased and Field and Stream.

Thanks! I used your idea and I love it. I attached a two foot piece of paracord on to the carabineer then used a slip knot to attach the anchor to the kayak. This way I have a quick way to release the anchor in an emergency.

Genius. If safety is a concern I'd use a thicker poly rope of some kind. That way it wouldn't be affected by getting wet and you can pull the slip knot super easily. Smaller diameter may bind a bit when wet. Glad you like it!

The bungee cord thing with the ball.. is a tarp tie down.

Or you could buy yourself a structure marker float and use it like everyone down here does.

i build this and when i find my depth and put the line around the ball the bungle will pull and the line will slip out.

I found the same thing. I put a slip knot in the line when I find my depth and put the loop in the carabiner to lock it. Then when I am good to leave, I take the loop out of the carabiner and pull out the slip knot leaving a clean line to wind back up. Hope that tip helps.

Did you 1 inch or 3/4. You said 1 inch but on the pvc it say 3/4.

Fair question, I'm pretty sure it is 1 inch. But there are often short segments at the hardware store so you could buy one of each and it wouldn't set you back much.
