My wife was a big fan of this special wine-braised dish.
It takes a long time to simmer, but it is very tasty, so please give it a try.
Recipe
Ingredients
400 g beef thigh
200 ml red wine
1 onion
2 cloves garlic
3 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 bay leaf
salt to taste
A dash of black pepper
Flour to taste
Olive oil to taste
Dash of parsley
Directions
(1) Cut the onion in half, remove the core, and slice thinly. Cut off the root of the garlic clove, crush it with the belly of a knife, and remove the skin.
(2) Cut the beef thigh into thirds, sprinkle salt and pepper on all sides, and dust with flour.
(3) Heat olive oil in a frying pan over low heat, add garlic and cook slowly.
(4) Remove the garlic, reduce the heat to medium, add the beef and brown it on all sides.
(5) Remove the beef, lower the heat, add the onions, and saute until lightly browned.
(6) Add red wine, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, sugar and bay leaf and mix.
(7) Return the beef and garlic to the pan and bring to a boil over medium heat.
(8) Cover the pan, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for 20 minutes. Turn the beef thigh over and cook for another 20 minutes.
(9) Open the lid, reduce the heat to medium and simmer the sauce.
(10) Arrange the beef thighs on plates, pour over the sauce, and sprinkle with black pepper and parsley.
