#appliedarchaeometallurgy #ancientmetallurgy It is toolmaking time. Probably one of the most rewarding activities every craftsman indulges in - as it helps him to economize on production time, without sacrificing the quality of his product.
This is about the production of a special tool for the spigot or tap makers of the late Middle Ages. No one knows this tool from finds, nor do the sources tell us anything about it. But there are contemporary pictures. These are the basis for this reconstruction.
Archaeometallurgy is more than just finding out from which mine a particular metal may have come from, or how iron was made from bog ore. It does really encompass quite a lot of aspects of a metal craft. Also, a reconstruction of a process or a tool should not only work in theoretically! So, only writing about it is not enough (: This is why I have this channel: My archaeological reconstruction should work in real life as well!
