If you screw the nut on the threaded rod before you cut it, and then spin it off, it will rethread the end for you as it comes off no need to sand a bevel in. Just a little tip

@Frank Blackcrow I have been making different types of electrolyzers from 3 years but even good quality stainless steel is not totally resistance to oxidation , after using stainless steel electrodes , solution starts to darken after running it for straight 2 hours on 24 voltage DC.

Civil Sitis You can use them , still better than steel ones , but gradually they will dissolve too , also don’t use very high current , if you want to use high current then increase the distance between +ve and -ve plates or they will dissolve by high temp, BTW I’m using silver plates which are abundantly available to me also they can easily be replaced when dissolved.

What happens to the Oxygen cos normally Hydrogen is given off at one side and Oxygen at the other( Anode and Cathode), but your design doesn’t seem to separate the gasses?

What if you just made a slurry of aluminum powder and put a probe on either end? That would maximize surface area and the pressure (bubbles) from electrolysis would mobilize the aluminum and create a distribution of gaps between aluminum particles, lowering the conductivity overall. You could also stir the slurry with the probes

It doesn't matter what you use as anode but for cathode , go for graphite electrodes man! Even pencil lead would work

The gas output depends on the voltage and amps used, the plates, (stainless 316L works best) surface area of the plates and distance between them, the catalyst used in the water, and many other factors.

@@mattbanks3517 You only need high amperage to kickstart the output. Once its operating the Amps can be considerably dropped down and still get much the same output. The secret to output is a big unit for more gas. Its the same as engines, a scooter will only manage 30 MPH as its only 50cc, but if you have 6,500cc it wil do something like 150 MPH. But you still need big Amps to get it going.

No exceptions you have to use all stainless steel in HHO. Generators . Anything else will corode. So fast and rot away.

easier to take an old battery, clean inside with baking soda, fill with distilled water and hook up DC backwards... DONE. "keep the faith people, and keep on keeping on"

Next time add baking soda (sodium bicarbonate); adding salt will produce chlorine gas (very deadly); and use Stainless Steel.

@@natetamminga3122 you don't necessarily need to use stainless steel, but stainless steel will corrode less than other metals. When lesser metals corrode they leave nasty stuff in the water, which is why you can see his water turned kind of brown and cloudy. eventually the metals he's using will need replaced because they will corrode away. that process would take much longer with stainless steel

Wrong! The gas is light, and will fight against gravity to rise to the top of the container. Doesn't matter how you put them in.

@@fdfsg6717 are you sure about that? Have you tested it? I have, and it doesn't matter how you put the plates in the electrolyte solution. As long as the solution is mixed correctly, then the orientation of the plates is inconsequential.

using pure water or tap water is not goo ,you need to add an electrolyte to increase conductivity this is why you getting brown rusty crap and you need to raise the amperage much more to get anything useful

When you make whater eletrolysis like that, you obtain hidrogen AND oxigen. Each pole makes it's own. So, how you separate both, because i can't see?

They are not separated in these type of generators, many people just use the nickname of Hydroxy gas when both are used together.

Yes, but two gases are formed there - hydrogen and oxygen. In your installation they are not separated and mixed.

Any Electrolyte. Salt for example works but doesn’t work best. I’m not quite sure what works best but it shouldn’t be too hard to find.

Depends on what you want it for. Electrolysis of water generates an excellent propellant fuel which is easy to work with, but is not able to produce more electricity than is required to electrolyze it.
