This DIY modern dresser video will guide you in building your very own beautiful dresser. I feel like this is one of my best builds to date. Build plans here www.731woodworks.com/store/mo...
This is a step by step how-to build a dresser video. This DIY modern farmhouse 2.0 dresser is a gift for my daughter. I loved working with new techniques and building something I had never built before. I had never attempted a dresser build, but this one came out great. I used full extension ball bearing drawer slides. I show you how to build drawers in this dresser. I dress up the ends of this farmhouse dresser with cove molding. I also tapered the legs to give it a little something extra. This style is like a contemporary glam or modern dresser. I used a stain blocking primer before applying 3 coats of Benjamin Moore White Dove paint. I am so proud of how this project came out. I was a little nervous going into the project but it was something that I wanted to attempt. I watched a few videos online to get a grasp of how to go about building the dresser, then jumped right in. The fabulous glass drawer pulls really set it off in my opinion. If you are looking to build a similar dresser or chest of drawers, check out the video.
This dresser features seven large drawers with full extension slides. The dresser measures 38 inches tall, 18 inches deep and 61 1/2 inches long. The supplies used to build this project include: 2 sheets of 4’ x 8’ 3/4” sanded birch plywood. 1 sheet of 1/4” plywood. One 2x8x8’. Three 1x6x10’. 1-1/4” pocket hole screws. Wood glue. Seven pair of full extension ball bearing drawer slides. 20 feet of cove molding. Drawer pulls. Primer and paint. This project was a little more expensive with the supply bill coming in at a little over $250.

Nice project great build. My youngest son bought his first home which was built in 1916 and when it was built they used plank boards to create wainscoting in the living room which we discovered when we removed the old lathe and plaster to put in insulation and drywall. So, my plan is to make a dresser using those boards so he will have a piece of the house for years to come and your video was helpful in my project.

Two things I like about this channel. Most KZfaqrs say you don't need the best tools to build things but they do. This channel uses tools we'd use because we don't have $10k to spend on our shop. The other thing is we are treated like idiots (this is a complement.) Most videos are 10 min. This is an hour.

I have been binge watching your videos for the last few days. I am very impressed. You build very useful projects with minimal tools and everything comes out beautifully. This dresser is awesome. You should be proud. As you get more experience and confidence, it really shows. When i build things like this, that are going to be painted, i use some latex caulk at all the seams, especially where the cove molding meets the panel. It fills those little gaps and nobody will ever know. Keep up the good work. You are very inspirational to many woodworkers.

Good afternoon from Trinidad & Tobago! Excellent build, sir. Loved your video from beginning to end, for it's simple and detailed explanations of each step in your build. I'm presently building a 3-door chest of drawers & a 4-drawer chest of drawers, both with baby-changing tables on top for my 2 newborn nephews. I was trying to figure out how to put the spacers between each level of drawers, but to hide them under the drawer faces....how to measure & space them. YOur video is the only one I found that explained how to do that in part. Thanks for the inspiration. Looking forward to seeing more of your builds.

Good job on the dresser. I realize this video is two years old and I'm sure you've gained a lot of experience and you probably don't need to know the suggestions that I have to make, but here goes anyway. When you were concerned with lining up the grooves on the drawer boxes, make a simple jig of two 45/45/90 triangles, about 3" or so stacked on top of each other offset by the depth of the groove topped with a third piece to go over the top (bottom edge) of the drawer. Put it in the corner while assembling the drawer and it will keep everything perfectly aligned. When trimming edge banding, there is a tool specifically for that. If you are planning on doing a lot of edge banding, you may want to get one. There are many of them out there and they're not expensive, so see what's best for you. You were worried about the spacing on the drawers. You did a great job on that for flush drawers. If you don't necessarily want inset drawer fronts, you may want to make overlap drawer fronts. Alignment and spacing is much easier, if that is the style that you are looking for. Ricky Nelson (my generation) once said in his song, Garden Party, "You can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself". Give yourself a break and be pleased with this build, Excellent!

The knob screws are 10-32, if you get screws that are too long, if you have a set of wire stripper pliers, they usually have threaded screw holes that can be used to cut those screws. Just an FYI, not trying to stick my nose in your business. I enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing.

One rule of thumb I use when making drawers the Grove for the drawer should be the same thickness of the ply your using for the drawer "reason being if it should fail you can cut the thickness in a strip to repair it "

Great Dresser!! Thank you for sharing that with us. Honestly, I love every single of your project that you made it. I really do not know that you're using SketchUp to design your project with that or not but I'm using it and make everything easy, fast, and reliable to build-up. SketchUp makes is each project's mistake minimize

I’m going to make some built-ins like this. I love the look of this simple modern design. My only suggestion is to perhaps use pin nails, as they leave a much more inconspicuous hole, that often doesn’t even need filling. Great job! ❤️🇨🇦

Just a suggestion. When putting the drawers together use a 3" by 3" piece of quarter inch plywood to line up the grooves perfectly, the put in the pocket screws. Again, just a suggestion for accuracy
