I would fill the frosting up with a bunch of different shapes and patterns because I like to mix it up. But you have taught. me everything I know about Quilling!

Hi Meridth, my question for you is how do you know what length your paper should be. Like outlines, use a double thickness. When making coils, how do you know what length of paper you should use? I love the cup cake.

A lot of the time when making a new design you’re going to have to guess. With practice though, you’ll be able to estimate how long of a strip you’ll need to get the size coil you’re looking for. Even now, when I’m making a new project for a video, I practice a bunch and make lots of notes. One of the best things about quilling is that the paper is so inexpensive that it’s ok to make mistakes!

Hi..what size paper do you recommend for your projects.

Sometimes it depends on the project I'm working on. For these cupcakes, I used 1/8” wide strips but it would work with wider strips as well. Thinner strips may be more difficult to manage. No matter the project, I do always leave links to the supplies I use in the description box of each video. I hope that helps!

I have used graduated color strips where the color changes mid-strip, but as far as patterns, they might not show up since the pattern would be on the side of the coil.
