No resin. No plaster. No silicone. This is the best ocean technique I've seen. So simple and with stunning results

my only critique would be that it lacks that translucent quality resin gives you - other than that, the rest of the effects like the waves and ripples are fantastic

@@misgoldman Yeah, but it looks perfect for Deep see....Maybe the Resin is only better if you want to do an ocean near the coast.

The use of the foil is a cracking technique. Looks far more controllable than trying with a gel.

@Michael Brown First part I was wondering why he was assembling such a simple model. Second part I was admiring his paint technique and wondering why it was being used on such a simple model. Third part blew me away. This guy is an artist of a very high order.

@@Pufferzsola Not sure if Scale-a-ton did this, I do not think so, but several others have used tp, some with resin top, some without. Like this one kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aLqno6Vo2Lyxnmw.html only tp and glue, and this one kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jZ6Jmqp1rJnUpIU.html using a resin topping.

Thank you so much for showing me you're great artistry and model making I've been trying to figure out what to do because I broke 5 vertebrae in my neck and also my skull and some other things but now you have shown me a great tool of rehabilitation you don't know how much it means .For what I have seen it does remind me of my childhood when i used to make model Navy ships and also model aeroplanes I would hand make the engines write down to everything that I thought was necessary. But you have given me more information about true artistry. And now with this injury you have really reopened myself in my rehabilitation so I thank you for sharing and showing your art knowledge and what can be done. From the land down under Australia.

Every time I watch one of these videos they'll do some that makes me just go like "NO WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? YOU'VE RUINED IT!" Then ten seconds later they make it even better than it was to begin with.

That is just amazing. Years ago (35+) you could never find a sea scene that looked so realistic. Things have changed. This has a realism that you don’t sea (pardon the pun) often. Great build. And thank you for all the information. 👍👍🇨🇦

Congratulations on creating the most realistic ocean scene I've ever seen and thank you for sharing your clever technique and skills. In the 70's, I was an export manager at Humbrol, so I have seen many! Any suggestions for a 1:20 scale ocean would be appreciated.

Fantastic tutorial mate, and the finished dio is simply stunning and very dynamic. I’ve just started building the AFV Club 1/350 Type XXI and was going to display it on the stand but you’ve now convinced me to try doing a sea base. Thank you

Thanks! This is the easiest and best looking way to do "high seas" effects in my opinion and I appreciate the refresher. I'm planning a USS Constitution build next year, and I want to put her out to sea under full sail. I've bookmarked this video for reference later.

Thanks very much for that awesome tutorial! I happened to have a AFV Club 1/350 Type XXI in the stash so decided I would give it a go. I’m very happy with the result but learnt that it’s a challenge to avoid air pockets under the foil and also found that strands of cotton wool get everywhere. Thanks once again and keep the fantastic videos coming.

That is just fucken amazing. I built these kind of plastic models as a kid and used them as toys when they were done, resulting in snapped antennas and one bladed propellers etc. This is on another level, so to speak.

You had me at the application of rust, straight off the airbrush needle - the translucency that 'appears' to be in the water left me stunned! I've been saying all along that that resin stuff is just too expensive....

Since I live near the Carnegie Science Center, my personal submarine is the USS Requin. I've been inside it, and have seen the torpedo bay, and stood next to the recon post. Even though I don't know or care much about submarines, the Requin has a special place in my heart.

Stunning!!! I used to work at the shipyard where the LCS are built, and Trumpeter put out the kit, I bought it 2 years ago but I want to put in ocean, now I can, without using resin. Thank you, your work is awesome!!!

Was anticipating when the epoxy would be poured but I’ve never been more shocked 😮 that’s a crazy technique that I don’t think many would have thought of, definitely a different approach but great results regardless 👍🏻👍🏻
