Join Jasmine as she re-purposes an old window with tinted ArtResin to create an eye catching piece of art that will add light and colour to any room!
Painting your own unique design to both the front and back panels adds detail and a sense of depth to the piece. Simple washes of tinted resin enhanced with glitter provides colour and vibrancy. As the daylight changes, so too does the radiant effect. It will look equally beautiful on the wall as a unique piece of artwork!

This is a great tutorial! Please comment on the lightfastness of your tint! I’d love to know! Thanks so much!
@Artresin
@Artresin 4 жыл бұрын
ResinTint is a pigment based colorant meaning it has much greater lightfastness than does a dye based colorant like alcohol ink. It is possible that in continued direct sunlight you could see some color changes or fading over time. Putting it in the window will definitely enhance the effect, but it will look beautiful hanging on a wall too.

ResinTint is a pigment based colorant meaning it has much greater lightfastness than does a dye based colorant like alcohol ink. Keep in mind that the maximum temperature cured ArtResin should be exposed to is 120F/50C. Temperatures higher than this can cause the resin to soften ( but it will harden again once the resin cools down. ) For this reason, you may want to avoid putting the artwork in the window in the heat of summer.

Is the UV protectant in ArtResin enough to keep alcohol inks bright and vivid, or do you recommend an additional UV layer?
@Artresin
@Artresin 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kate, Alcohol inks vary greatly in intensity from brand to brand. Some will change color when they are dropped into resin. Others can fade very quickly. Ours are highly saturated and provide an intense color and won't change when it drops into resin. It has a lightfast rating between 4-6 which is very good. All alcohol ink is dye based ( as opposed to a pigment based colorant like ResinTint ) so you'll want to keep it out of direct sunlight to help prevent fading. ArtResin will provide some protection ( about the same as UV glass ) but UV is powerful and best practice is to keep your artwork out of direct sunlight to prevent fading.

You can use a variety of colourants depending on what look you want to achieve. You can use our ResinTints and alcohol inks, mica powders, pigment paste or even acrylic paints. There are lots of options out there and many different price points, you may want to test out some different options to find the product that works best for you.

I'm only Midway through the video, I truly want to try this you are so talented. I would like to do this and I would also like to add trinkets or shells. Will that stick to this resin? Because I'm not an artist, you are an artist. I'm just an arts and crafts person. Anyway, I don't know if you were going to cover this but is there a kit or specific resin you prefer? Oh and lastly so many people tell me that all types of resins will yellow within a couple of years if they're exposed to Natural Light. Have you experienced that?
@Artresin
@Artresin 4 жыл бұрын
ArtResin works great as an adhesive as well. Many artists use it on mosaic pieces as well. Jasmin is using our product ArtResin Epoxy Resin and it can be found here www.artresin.com All epoxy resin will yellow over time but ArtResin, with its advanced UV and Hindered Amine Light Stabilizers, ArtResin is chemically engineered to offer the best protection against yellowing on the market. :)

@@Artresin thank you so much. I just ordered some. Then I went to Amazon and also ordered some tint but I don't know which brand it was. I'm not sure if it's the same maker as yours. I'm going to have to check. Using it with mosaics as interesting cuz that's essentially my plan with seashells. Thank you so much for all of your help. Have a great day and thank you for encouraging the little old crafter not only the artists. ❤️

@sabinek.4773

Good question. I made a small table with resin and alcohol inks. Was standing direktly in the sun. After two weeks all colour has gone.... 😲
@Artresin
@Artresin 4 жыл бұрын
We recommend keeping ArtResin out of direct sunlight to help slow down the yellowing process ( since UV light accelerates yellowing ). As the resin is tinted in this application, yellowing will not be as noticeable as it would on clear resin.

When using art resin, shouldn't one use extra protection (goggles, respirators)? Or is art resin a safe product?
@Artresin
@Artresin 4 жыл бұрын
ArtResin is considered a non-hazardous material and is non-toxic when used as directed, however there are some safety precautions that every user should follow: Wear gloves. ArtResin is very sticky in its liquid form, so gloves will protect the user from a mess, as well as skin irritation. Clean skin promptly with soap and water if it does come in contact with ArtResin. If ArtResin somehow comes in contact with your eyes, flush with water repeatedly and do not rub. Promptly seek medical attention. Work in a well ventilated area. Wear a respirator if ventilation is poor. For detailed health information, please see the ArtResin SDS. ArtResin conforms to ASTM D4236, meaning it is certified as safe for home use.
