How to Make A Rice Paper Sail Cake

3 жыл бұрынIsn’t this the dreamiest cake?? I have been seeing these whimsical rice paper cake creations lately as they are definitely trending and I always wondered how they were made. I did a little bit of diving into the method, and did some practice of my own and the results were STUNNING. I would have never guessed making rice paper sails is incredibly simple, anyone could master this technique. In this tutorial I’ll show you step by step how to create beautiful varieties of rice paper sails and decorations.

I bought my rice paper on Amazon, but you can get it at the grocery store as well.

Hmm, actually think it might work to save the food colored water. I’ve left mine sitting out, just because I didn’t clean up right away, and it might last. I would just make sure it’s covered ❤️

This was such a fun video!!! :-) I have got to try this. Do the sails keep for a long time? If they do it would be nice to have some made in advance to add to unexpected cake orders. Hi what a cool cake topper .. Can I use these on an Ice Cream Cake? Is the hardened stained, rice paper freezer friendly? If so, how best can I attach them to the ice cream cake?

Thank you ! I have never thought of using this with an ice cream cake, I’m not sure if it’s freezer friendly. I attached mine with buttercream, so if you use a little bit of buttercream on the top of your ice cream cake it would attach. They can go into the refrigerator, so the freezer might be okay??

I would wait until just before ready to serve before putting on the cake ❤️

how long does it take to dry? Could I use it the same day on a cake?

The sails dry overnight. I’ve seen other people use a hair dryer to dry them more quickly, but I’ve never done it.

Hi! I haven’t used parchment paper but someone else commented they did and it stuck pretty badly so I would recommend wax ❤️

Hi! I haven’t tried it but others have commented parchment paper won’t work as the sail gets stuck. However you CAN use a silicone baking mat - that works great!

I used parchment paper :( The sail got stuck on the parchment so I had to do it again :c

Hi! Others have said parchment paper does NOT work, I’m not sure about butter paper. ❤️
