I like the idea of the colanders, though . so often we are focus on having some kind of great-looking commercial product pot that would forget there's actually a lot of kinds of containers we can grow in

Hello! Could you tell me what are the little plants in the pot? I can also see a bigger one, a suculent one. Almost everyone uses mosk, i wonder how a combo of these would look like in my pot
@ricklandaubonsai5506
@ricklandaubonsai5506 3 жыл бұрын
Hello, it's a little plant called artillery fern (pilea macrophylla) and the succulent is a little kalanchoe. Both of them can look pretty good but they can also be fairly invasive, so be careful if you try using them. Cheers!

I have a Ficus Ginseng, I ordered a Bonsai pot and soil. My question, can I add some cushion moss to the top of the soil. I have seen some pictures on the internet and I see some have moss as a nice effect. Your video is very interesting and informative. Thank You 🌳
@ricklandaubonsai5506
@ricklandaubonsai5506 3 жыл бұрын
Hello! yes you could definitely do that. Although it is mainly done for aesthetic purposes, it can also help retain some moisture in the pot. cushion moss is also very hardy and will thrive if it grows naturally where you live. Cheers!

How long can a cutting could be use for roots over rock?
@ricklandaubonsai5506
@ricklandaubonsai5506 4 жыл бұрын
How does it take for the cutting to root? It's different for every plant.. slowly remove the soil to see if it's rooting and grabbing the rock. Cheers

If you plant the tree sideways or on angle, will placement in window away from the distal end cause the trunk to naturally curve back? I ask bc I tried modestly bending my snow rose bonsai and it started to splinter. 😬 Also, should you always bury the roots the first time you put bonsai on rock or can some roots be exposed to the air? Of note, this video is ‘budget bonsai,’ could be a good selling point. 😁
@ricklandaubonsai5506
@ricklandaubonsai5506 3 жыл бұрын
Hello! yes you could definitely do that, however you should do it when the plant is younger if you're trying for it to bend dramatically, or for it to have lots of movement in the trunk as older plants will not bend and will just produce new foliage where they get more light exposure. When you first plant it you could leave some roots exposed but make sure they're mature and not fibrous or feeder roots as these will just die when exposed to light and wind. Good idea about the budget thing... maybe i'll use it as a tag for my future videos thanks. cheers!

I Planted a ficus cutting a last week, can i use it nxt month for roots over rock?
@ricklandaubonsai5506
@ricklandaubonsai5506 4 жыл бұрын
HeIIo , it depends on how healthy the cutting is and the roots are. If you have lots of foliage and roots you could go ahead and start the process.. just keep it awag from direct sunlight and high temperatures. Cheers!

@ricklandaubonsai5506
@ricklandaubonsai5506 4 жыл бұрын
hello! it depends on where you live and when you plant it. if you live in a tropical place, and you plant in spring it 2 months sound reasonable. So after 2 weeks i would start checking the base of the plastic bottle to see if there's any new roots. I hope it grows. Cheers!
