Hi there , yes a very simple sugar wash that cost;s next to nothing and produces a much cleaner more neutral spirit than any turbo I have ever tried, check out the tried and true recipe's on the home distillers forum, you will find a few sugar wash recipe's there including Bird watchers wine'os plain 'ol.

So all up, the cost (outside of the T500) is roughly 15 Aussie dollars per brew. 11 bucks for the yeast sachet and about 4 (bulk buy for both according to Google) giving you 3 ltrs on average per cook up. Very good value for money. After flavouring and bottling i suppose we are looking at 17 bucks per bottle.

Hi, Where can I find your followup video.

Simply put, no. It is meant to take out impurities during fermentation. You add it immediately after or at the same time as the yeast. Trust me. Those are the instructions from the manufacturer. You filter it all out with Turbo Clear and polish your distillate with activated carbon sachets if you like.

Have you ever tried something like a Shady's Sugar Shine Wash ?.
@8pibrewing8674 жыл бұрын
Hey. No, never heard of it - is that a simple sugar wash that should be distilled with an alembic? Or something different entirely? Cheers 🍻

Would it taste better using cracked corn or other grains ?
@8pibrewing8675 жыл бұрын
For use in the T500 reflux column still, no, because you get a near pure distillate with neutral flavour. However, if you use the copper alembic pot still then, yes, absolutely - the flavour carries through. I keep meaning to do it, but never get time any more :(

@@8pibrewing867 so would the product from the t500 be comparable to vodka ?

lol, arent you sposed to put the liquid carbon in after fermentation ? lol wtf?
@jpmangen5 жыл бұрын
Tyrone Locke no when making this wash for neutral spirts the carbon is mixed in before fermentation start

That much sugar using a high yield yeast strain produces a high ABV in the wash. That has to stress the yeast so it produces a lot of off flavours. The in wash carbon helps with those off flavours.
