HOW TO MAKE A SKETCH BOOK. Book Binding tutorials. Jester's Sketch Book from Critical Role.
This video goes over how to make a sketch book from start to finish. I bound this book using the coptic stitch which works great for things like a sketch book. I'm using this book for my Jester cosplay (it's been left blank so I can draw in it). While this is a cosplay book, it's still fully functional!
Materials:
- A sketch pad or some loose paper (If using loose paper you'll need chip board for the covers)
- Ruler
- Pen or Pencil
- Awl or Thumb Tack
- Embroidery Thread
- Large Needle
- Large Binder Clips
- Scissors and a Craft Knife
- Some Glue
- Decorative Paper
Option:
- Paper Cutter
- Grommets
- Fabric for the covers
- Tissue Paper
- Heat and Bond
- Iron

I am also extra. I learned how to print and book bind fanfiction (with the author's permission!) I definitely want to make a Caleb spell book and book holster one day 😂

I loved this! The tutorial was so clear (and very true to the occasional distraction that comes with the creating process). The finished product is STUNNING. Subscribed, and looking forward to more tutorials.

This is so cool! You're a natural at tutorials! You explained everything really clearly and included enough fun and humor to keep it lively! The end result is absolutely gorgeous! And was that a glimpse.of the British Baking Show? That and Critical Role are among my favorites!

You made such a beautiful book! I love the material and end papers you chose as well as the additional strap to hang it from your belt. I hope you get a lot of compliments on your outfit. I watch SeaLemon and NerdForge, too. There's another bookbinder you might want to check out - kzfaq.infovideos. He has a ton of info. Have you had any problems with the HeatNBond glue dots showing through the material after you iron? I have, so I'm guessing my material was too thin. I had used quilting cotton and it looks fairly crappy.

Sorry to just reply! Thank you for the recommendation! I have not had any issues with heat and bond on my books! Maybe it is fabric thickness? Silk isn’t very thick, but my other books were covered in faux suede and other hefty fabrics. Guess we’ll see how the silk cover holds up!
