How will the slabs of moss on top be naturally anchored down? Is it the patience game where the sphagnum moss will have to grow or will the water pack it down sufficiently over time???

Should you have put the bigger trees in the front and smaller ones to the back? I live in the Santa Cruz mountains of California and have been hunting for the perfect redwood Yamadori in my mountain neighborhood to create a bonsai forest I lucky to have some awesome neighbors (4 different properties) allowing me to tend to Handful of specimens I’ve found so far and including my own property I have 6-7 trees allocated to one forest and the other 2-3 to be their own proper bonsai 2 years in and just a another 2-3 years to go and they will be prime! Such a fulfilling hobby and grateful to live in a place that is home to one of the coolest trees in the world!! Cheers from the Santa Cruz Mountains/ Ben Lomond, CA

Technically no. The bigger tree would be considered the oldest and likely the parent tree to all the ones around it. You would typically not put anything almost directly in front of it like they did here though.

Hi I’m trying to make an azalea bonsai from a young nursery stock for the first time, and I noticed the bud has some petals coming out not sure if it’s blooming. Should I wait until fall to pot them or can I pot them now?
