In this video, I'm sharing How To Make a Slow Stitch Book Sleeve. This is Part 1 where we will be using the Stack and Whack method to make patchwork blocks for our base.
If you have never tried patchwork before, this method is a great starting point. The fabric does the work for you and you can barely go wrong. There is almost no waste, and everything is guaranteed to fit together. I am not even worrying about seam allowance, because this will be a raw-edge panel. It couldn't be easier!
Look out for part 2 when I will start the embellishing and slow stitching process.
If you want to stitch along, you will need:
60x35cm (24" x 14") Batting, felt, blanket or other padding fabric.
9x 14x14 cm (5 1/2") squares of fabric
tacking cotton
Needle
Pins
Cutting mat
Rotary cutter or scissors.

Thanks so much. There are loads of ways to do crazy patchwork. I enjoyed this one - I like the fact that you don't need to worry about balancing the fabrics because it happens by itself. I can't wait to get stitching. 🤗

Really enjoyed this video whilst sewing on my own project - it's like crafting with a friend but because I don't have to answer you, I can also concentrate on my sewing! 😄I always learn so much from your videos. Thank you Rebecca, look forward to the next instalment of this pretty book cover.

I'm so glad. Crafting with a friend... I really like that and appreciate it so much. It's sort of how I feel when I am filming. It's lovely to know you are all out there. Thanks so much for being there. 🤗

Thanks so much. It was so easy. I think it would be even easier if I had pieced each block on my machine as I went. Glad you liked it. 😊

I think that pack of fabric is vintage Laura Ashley - I recognise a few of them! Gorgeous. x

Oh I hope that it is. My mum had a green Laura Ashley bedroom in the house I spent my teenage years in. Forest Green with tiny leaves. I wish I'd kept the curtains. I was too young to know their worth. 💚

Me too. The Quiled Bear one cut really nicely, but the straight handle was a bit awkward for me to hold. 😊
