@lavonminor Grats on making the telescope! Yes, it is an inverted image. Used for astronomy! You can correct this by changing one of the lenses to a double concave.

@Icklumpus great comment. But, isn't that the focal length? and to use the thin lens formula to get the magnification and focal length you need both radii of the lenses. difficult to figure unless given to you. Great comment though.

Yes, this telescope inverts the image, comes upside down. if you want a right side up image you have to use a double convex lens and a plano concave lens. Or a double concave lens. Hope that helps!

The angular magnification can be calculated by dividing the focal length of the first lens with the focal length of the second lens, thus if you have two lenses of the same kind the magnification will be x1 (no magnification). So, nope.
@neoanimalia884
@neoanimalia884 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can but the focal length of objective lens should be greater than of eye piece.

Hello sir, Your video is most helpful then any other video on you tube when it comes to home made telescopes.But i am a bit confused in choosing lenses. My questions are: 1- I have a Magnify lens size of a human palm, can i use it for my telescope? 2- Can we use both lenses of same focal length & diameter ? 3- Is Plano concave & Convex concave setup is more effective in magnification? 4- Can we use a very big magnify lens like one used by detectives in movies ? The best part of your video is when you teach us about lenses at least now i know about concave,convex,double convex & Plano convex. Thanx :)

Anyway I watched your tutorial, and today I bought some lenses, one +1.5 dioptres, and one -5.5. will these do for a galilean telescope? very nice vid by the way!

Hello all Sir I really liked your video. I am making a telescope for my school project. I am using a concave convex lens of diameter 49 mm and focal length of 1350mm and a Plano concave lens of 49mm and focal length of 152mm. Will be able to get 9x image? please reply and also tell me the requirements for 10x or 20x

with that length and a 25MM Eyepiece you get 54x Magnification, if your eyepiece is 49MM you get 27x Magnification( with 1350mm focal lenght)

@snowcrystal2510 Good job on the telescope. The eyepiece lens shoudl be about 50 cm away from the objective. We make a sliding tube telescope so you can just adjust that as you need it. With a 10x telescope you should see some fun stuff like craters on the moon and a coouple of plantets like jupiter and saturn.
