I second that sentiment Trevor. Hearing you talk about the hours involved in making press dies for specific jobs, reminds me of the many occasions I had to explain why such a small job took so long to recreate. Sigh😉🙂👍👍

G'day Trev, loving these tips! I recently watched all the van build to date and now gone to these tips. I'm not sure what the process is to put them in a play list, but it would be much easier to watch them and possibly find them. currently i go to "your videos" and have to hover the mouse pointer over the description to see #2 etc, because the title is long and it only shows part of it, i think on the mobile phone i'd have trouble finding the next one. i'm very impressed with how you have explained the tools and how each process works. i didn't even think to clean the copper up, as i thought the process was to stop the mig wire doing porcupines on the back side mostly, but understand the function well after you started the weld on the copper before joining the headlight piece. looking forward to getting through to the current "tips" episode Cheers, Dean.

A good preservative oil is "LPS 3". A bit pricey, but it is a paraffin base aerosol spray and will protect bare steel tools for years. It is suitable for machined and polished crankshaft throws as well. I use it sparingly and will substitute ATF (auto trans fluid) for things that I will use again in less than a year's time. A little wipe-down with ATF will last much much longer than WD-40 and it's as cheap as dirt. I LOVE those little Lambrettas! I just discovered your channel today... nice work! Subscribed & notified!

Hi Trev, I made myself a tool up, fortunately I had a clamp from my old job of 15 years ago lurking in my toolbox, two 6 mm plates and bolts. Trev, The old screwdriver trick..... Metal forming: The constant in metal forming is material volume. Material has to go some where when the inside radius is formed. It's either going to fold over on itself (getting thicker) or shrink (getting thicker). In either case volume of material remains the same. I bet if you measured lip thickness in the radius it would be ~1.2mm. Have you addressed the question of material quality and or specification? Do you purchase a specific grade of steel?
