How to Make a Steampunk Airship Christmas Tree Decoration

Well, just in case you were short of sweet steampunky Christmas tree decorations, here's one to fill that empty spot on the tree.
This project is slightly finicky due to the small size of everything, but it is great because you can make the whole thing from one sheet of craft foam. Great way to use up some of your scraps rather than throwing them away. Make your own steampunk airship!

I think I might make this slightly bigger and then put it on a stick and carry it around with my airship captain costume. 'It's not small, it's just far away!' (Bonus points if you get the reference!)

Bought the pattern, can't wait to try it out! I use a completely different material vs. foam so we'll see how it goes! But based on using your Top Hat tutorial eons ago, it should be really fun!

Hi I love how steampunk looks I have a collection of steampunk gears of gold silver and bronze , I really love the bronze, I've made bracelets by using resin to glue down large then med then small gears on top of each other leaving room for the jumprings to attach to each other, the result was stunning and was very happy with my bracelet,, I love the air ship its differant and unique ,, stylish and awesome, the black with the silver and gold gives it that vintage look that I love too, so cool.🗝⚙️⛓️🔗🧷 and inspiring.

Nice airship! Nice baby! Your videos are my favorite. I made an angel out of a toilet paper roll and construction paper when I was 3. My parents still insist upon topping their tree with that deformed monstrisity every freaking year even though the rest of the tree is covered in beautiful vintage glass ornaments and meaningful Hallmark ornaments. It makes me happy that another family has a similar tradition with The Pumpkin. :)

+Lost Wax Almost done! Do you have any good ideas for alternatives to create rivets with epoxy? :) It works, but I can get a bit messy and hard to get full control over size, placement and such. I'm thinking about punching out small bits of foam...

Chris love your video took this and did several different ones I have a Facebook site to show you my work....I'm a local Idaho artist and I do a lot of Steampunk along with a lot of other genera....pretty much if it interests me I try it, but I'm best at Steampunk and Modern art. Thanks for your ideas....I actually went to the dollar store an bought a foam football I painted to make mine to save some time...Thanks again for your ideas! :)

Amazing. I think barge cement would work better and it doesn't leave all that visible glue on it. Again Amazing!!!!

+yamypunkgirl9 I agree, but as I am stuck inside, I am trying to use less toxic glues for my projects. For the best possible looking result, contact cement is the go.
