I tried to make a Stirling engine as simple as possible, but it was still difficult. Stirling engines are not easy to make.
List of materials:
- candy drops tin (00:03)
- piece of thin aluminum sheet (00:16, 10:12, 14:22)
- thin aluminum bar (01:58)
- cyanoacrylate glue (02:07, 06:20, 13:00)
- steel wool (02:25)
- silicone rubber (03:39, 20:58)
- 32mm tube (05:16, 06:16)
- two strips of galvanized steel (or copper, or brass) (07:10)
- solder tin (07:24)
- thin malleable steel bar (or wire) (08:08)
- pencil (12:06)
- small balloon (13:34)
- bolt, two nuts and two washers (14:15)
- electrical connector (17:00)
- two large lids (19:17)
- masking tape (19:38)
- lubricating oil (21:32)
Tools:
drill, drill bits, scissors, pliers, screwdriver, soldering iron, sandpaper, hand saw, pocket knife, pin, marking pen.

This is probably the most likely successful stirling engine build you could attempt from KZfaq videos. No words spoken or numbers to deal with, just good, plain physical instructions.

Imagine trying to make an internal combustion engine in your kitchen. Zero chance of that. Its incredible how imprecise a Stirling engine can be and it will still operate.

@@call_me_mado5987 ⚠️ God has said in the Quran: 🔵 { O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous - ( 2:21 ) 🔴 [He] who made for you the earth a bed [spread out] and the sky a ceiling and sent down from the sky, rain and brought forth thereby fruits as provision for you. So do not attribute to Allah equals while you know [that there is nothing similar to Him]. ( 2:22 ) 🔵 And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant [Muhammad], then produce a surah the like thereof and call upon your witnesses other than Allah, if you should be truthful. ( 2:23 ) 🔴 But if you do not - and you will never be able to - then fear the Fire, whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers.( 2:24 ) 🔵 And give good tidings to those who believe and do righteous deeds that they will have gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow. Whenever they are provided with a provision of fruit therefrom, they will say, "This is what we were provided with before." And it is given to them in likeness. And they will have therein purified spouses, and they will abide therein eternally. ( 2:25 ) ⚠️ Quran

@@call_me_mado5987 agreed, but the same applies to sterling engines. I saw a 10 cylinder unit with electronic timing control. I have also seen a one cylinder gas engine with mechanical valve and spark timing. It was about as simple as the engine in this video. Very interesting engine, it didn't spark on every revolution so the rpms would fluctuate. If I recall, it was for a compressor.

Good vid. It hopefully accomplishes two things. First, inspire others to get started tinkering with Stirling engines. Second, to dispel the myth of current state of the art DIY Stirlings accomplishing any useful work for any practical power input level. A whole new paradigm is needed to make them practical as prime movers. Even when the input energy is "free" (solar heat, ground or evaporative cooling, etc) the cost of implementation and the replacement of moving parts make a small diesel engine look pretty good. That has got to change, and only the DIY hobby community can afford to "waste" the time and resources for the R&D required. A hobbyist has got to start somewhere. Part of finding out what works is finding all the things that do not work. Being able to construct a running heat engine in a half hour out of mostly just trash is a good foot in the door. Your design is simple enough for a reasonably smart 12 year old to follow, and it will teach him a little bit about the Stirling cycle.

@@TheCompleteGuitarist Also applies to all videos i watched about Stirling engine... The piston only move up/down depending on the crank shaft. most they make it not long enough to allow a cooling phase. Hot/Cold differential can increase efficiency of the engine. AMAZING! i love this will recreate!
