For how to make a silk tassel, I have a tip to help prevent the threads from pulling out. For making tassels from embroidery thread, I show a different method.
Making tassels is a lot of fun, and they can be used in so many ways! Silk tassels make wonderful earrings - the thread feels so nice against your neck and face.

You can separate embroidery floss. It is multi strand. So you can make a skein go much further.

If you have a steamer it works better for taming the fly aways.

Hello! I loved your tutorial and I hope you are still maintaining these questions. I clicked on the link to Amazaon to see which silk thread to use, but it gave a page, with several silk threads. Could you please indicate specifically which ones to use? I have been trying to find silk for tassels and it is a hard trial and error search! Thank you!

I wonder if you were to press (iron) the tassels between 2 pieces of cloth would calm down the flyaways.... Thanks for the tutorial, helps a lot. ❤️

How many wraps for initial two tassels? 35 for the emb. Floss? And 100 for the silk? Thanks

I saw a yarn tassel video that says to use a blow dryer for just a couple of seconds to straighten the yarn. Hold the tassel vertically and aim the blow dryer straight down - just briefly. I don't know if that would work on fine fibers.

Hi Shannon, thanks for your comment and vote! I used a 4mm diameter bead/end cap for the blue and gold tassel. I find that for jewelry, I lean towards the 4mm and 6mm end caps the most often. Have a great day!

This came right on time. I make tassels.i use embroidery floss and string cord from the dollar tree craft section. I prefer the dollar tree string. I haven't tried yet with silk but looking forward to it. Bc depends g on the look u want, it's more fancy. Lol. Out of ur tassels I like the silk and that orange tassel with starfish charm. Where u get those big rolls of silk thread from??

Hi Lorraine, I am glad that my timing was good. :) You are right, it really does depend on the look you want, and how you plan to use the tassel. I got a big box of silk thread (actually viscose silk) on Amazon for about $11 -- it will last me a long time! amzn.to/2y1NwlS

Please please please Tell me how to stop tassels from brain I’ve already made them they’re hanging on my curtains but they keep praying I don’t know what to do every time I cut them I just keep praying is there a spray is there anything do you have any idea how to fix this and I love your video

Hello! I think part of it may be due to the material used for the tassels -- some fray easily, some are longer-lasting. Have you tried something called Fray Check? It's something you can find in the sewing section of a craft store, and it's specifically made to help stop fraying. It may take a little work to get everything dabbed with it, but it should help your fraying problem. Best wishes! :)
