Super cute! The top line of the bodice should be an inch or two wider, to prevent the wide shoulder straps from not laying flat. Either that, or make spaghetti straps instead. Or, angle the straps (at the point at which they meet the bodice), so they point out towards the shoulders more, as you attach them. Then they’d lay flat. Otherwise, this is a lovely dress! Looks great on you!

This is my first time watching your videos. I have got a Lovley vintage cotton sari that would make this dress. Unfortunately I live in a country that doesn't sell dress patterns. You are one of my new favorite sewists to watch... I have been sewing since my mom taught me years ago as a young girl.....I started by making my doll's clothes and hooked ever since....I recently made a pullover sleeveless dress that was below knee length from white eyelet fabric.....the skirt was more than a full circle because I had hacked a pattern.... when I was ready to hem, I felt the length was neither here nor there, it needed to be about 4 inches shorter or maxi length....after much thought, I decided maxi with a "full" ruffle....well that full ruffle used up 8 yards of fabric....I'm 5'8" so the added on ruffle needed to be about 20 inches long so that's why it ate so much fabric, and its heavy! I love it but now I have no idea where to wear it....its not very practical now....cant just pop on and go to the grocery store....right now it's just hanging up and I am admiring my work.....all that being said, when you said you had less than 3 meters to make your dress, I realized I really over did it!! LOL!!!

Janelle (spelling?), I have been so excited to start sewing again after getting inspired by a handful of YTers, including you! So I broke out my sewing machine after gosh, 10-12 years but quickly learned my sewing machine was acting funny, skipping stitches and getting jammed frequently. Well, I finally took it to a local sewing machine repair shop and they called me back to let me know that.... I had my needle in the wrong way and was using a too-small bobbin 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ I felt so silly! But the kind man was so kind to reassure me that there were other things wrong with it so it wasn’t entirely my fault. I can’t wait to start seeing again!!

Hi Janelle -- what a darling dress! I have a question about the seams. Did you do anything to prevent them from fraying? After a few washes, a lot of fabrics would begin to gray I think. I love your dress with the top. Some of us in the 60+ year old set, look better with covered arms!

Just wondering, what dress were you wearing in this video, the one with the reddish flower print? Also, I love the tiered dress, once I get some more fabric, I hope I can order this pattern and make it! So cute! I might have to make it shorter since I don't like super-long dresses. God bless!
