Perfect! Beautiful piece of timber. Beautiful hand tools. Superb skill and a beautiful scarf joint. The best I’ve seen.

Would love to see the process for the mating piece and joining together in a part 2. Great work!

Looking at the craftsmanship...I'd have thought it was being done by a Japanese Master Carpenter

What brand of framing chisels are you using. Looks like your working with white pine. I know that's soft but even cross graining the knots, those chisels were going through like a razor through warm butter! (Or at least you make it look that way) lol. Nice work!

Thank you! I’m using Robert Sorbey chisels.

@ThornhillTimberFrames Thanks so much for the reply. I have three from Barr tools. Very pleased with them but yours look even more stout.
@ThornhillTimberFramesАй бұрын
I’d like to try those sometime. I think the connection to the handle looks stronger with the Barr.

They are top notch but the flat sides on your Sorbys would come in very handy sometimes. Lol I just ordered the three flat side framing chisels from Sorby. Appreciate your replies. :) Keep the great videos coming.

Very cool to watch. Keep them coming. Can you tell me what the name or brand of the little bandsaw is?
@ThornhillTimberFrames2 ай бұрын
It is a Mafell hand held bandsaw.

Great! What is a " Scarf Joint "?
@ThornhillTimberFrames2 ай бұрын
A Scarf joint is used to connect two beams and create a longer one. Check out our video of it put together and that might help it make sense for you.

Can you write what dimensions this connection should have? What angles, what proportions? Is this more or less how you do it?

One day, you'll look back on this video and realize how stupid and ridiculous that jumbo romper room hammer looks. Just go buy or make a common mallet for your chizel work. Tools have changed shape over the years because modernization and progression is good.

Having a bad day?
@victorrodriguez28062 ай бұрын
@cynthiastandley5742 Nope! I care enough for your business to be successful, that the truth is always best. Don't ever shun good advice.

I did make this mallet and I quite like it, and I feel very comfortable using it.
