Thanks for making this video. I just bought a Puma folding knife from the Toronto Sportsman Show and want to make a sheath for it. This is exactly what I need to do.

Thanks for the ideas. I have a customers Gerber folding knife he wants a case made for . I tried a couple of ways to do it but the knife is quite big and nothing seemed to work the way I wanted . I will go with your wood form idea. Thanks again from Alberta.

That looks really good. I can't say I wasn't a little skeptical of how it would turn out looking, but you cleaned up the edges extremely well, the stitching looks very well done, and even without dye it looks amazing.

Great video. I used the same wetting process to fit my six shooters to some new leather. Worked great.

It would also be very helpful to see how you make your molds. I am not a woodworker at all, but am starting to think I need to familiarize myself, especially with the mold making as I'm a fan of wet molded sheaths and bags.

I've done a handful of wet molded projects over the years and wasted a lot of material in the process. The last one I did was a couple of years back for a side arm. It was a whole new kettle of fish. It took me 3 tries to get it and I swore id never do another one but im going to do my restricted course this summer so who knows.

Kyle, this was a great idea for a vid. I would love to give this a try in the future. I sure wish you would have spent more time on the finishing details - after wet shaping - since I am absolutely clueless. Especially sewing the two pieces together after glueing. Maybe you can do a part 2? Or a long version? Thanks!

Howdy Kyle! I enjoy watching your videos, thanks for the tips! I had a question for one of your videos a while back, on sharpening knives. You mentioned that when starting the sharpening process on a whetstone, it's fine to use cutting and stropping strokes. Does that also apply to ceramic hones, diamond sharpeners, sharpening steels, etc?

Question: How do you dye around the snaps and rivets? I always dye first before I set anything cause I'm afraid of getting dye on my metal pieces. Informative video. Thanks.

Kyle, what do you think about putting a row of stitching in the part that the button is on that keeps the tool in the sheath? It would only be ascetic and serve no real purpose but I think it would look nice.
@kyle_noseworthy

I'm not sure where you're talking about, exactly?
@MDKDAF

@@kyle_noseworthy the flap that closes over the tool to retain it in the sheath. The edge of that would look sharp with some stitching around it the same as the res of the sheath. It wouldn't be sewn to any other leather so it wouldn't be for anything but looks but I think it would look nice.
