I've made both ways with vegetable shortening and the last one with butter. Both are delicious. The shortening tastes more like the store cakes but my fave is the buttercream. Tastes like the buttercream filled chocolates from Fannie May!

You might want to double check your info on that. That is not true and has been a myth for quite awhile. Doctors have said the main cause of heart problems and clogging arteries is lack of exercise and too much stress. Worrying about what we should and should not eat is causing so many a ton of stress which causes heart attacks.

Not rue. Grandma ate lard her whole life and lived to 97 with no heart problems. Ever.
