I've been considering using "air bags" made of recycled carrier bags for protecting things in the post that I've sold on eBay, and these videos show an easy and practical way of welding polythene in a household environment. Really awesome videos, fella. Cheers! :-)

Hi Paul, I couldn't say for sure, it depends on the type of plastic and how good the welds are. The ambient temperature also affects the air inside. The best thing is to experiment. Interesting idea!

Thanks Peter. Me, I plan to buy a cheap tiny beach ball of about the same quality plastic thickness; cut the plastic, push-in mouth inflatable valve out and meld that to the plastic sheet. Do you think this will work too? Or is that material around the valve like vinyl? I can't easily find this teflon oven lining sheet you speak of in Canada. I see silicone lining sheets in stores. They seem

I'm going to attempt making something similar from sheets of plastic and fused plastic shopping bags, figured they would make nice portable pillows for the homeless.

Hi. This is amazing. Presumably the valve works because the air inside is pushing it closed?? Is that right? Im making pillows to be used in a swimming pool but want them only half full of air so for me im thinking this wouldn’t work right?? Any ideas? I’ve ordered some kids armbands to use as a valve for now but will experiment more with what you’ve made… love it! Thsnkyou 🙏🙏🙏

Hi Kobi, yes, it is the pressure of the air inside that keeps the valve closed. If you want to half-fill with air, you could try rolling the outer part of the valve up tightly and clip or fix it with velcro or a paper clip. That should work. Let me know how you get on!

thank you for this fascinating idea! I am having trouble getting the valve to seal. Can you please explain more how it is supposed to work? Where does it seal? Will it stay sealed indefinitely? Thanks!

Hi Stephen, The plastic for the valve needs to be as smooth and flat as possible, and without wrinkles once it has been welded together. The valve is kept shut by the pressure of the air inside the inflatable, so take care with the end that goes inside. The piece hanging out is just to blow it up with, but you can roll this up and clip it with a peg or paperclip to help prevent air loss. Hope that helps.
