This is a great tutorial,I fell into the trap you are talking about trying to paint what I saw instead of what was needed so much so I had to start all over again. I wish I had seen this first ,but second time around it turned out good after I simplified it so lesson learned.Thank you again .

Thanks for your patient work recording and uploading these, very well done; like your technique. Mostly I stick to landscapes, sometimes leaning toward the abstract. Portraits, a little more difficult but your approach makes sense of everything.
