Barbute - typical Italian helmet of the 15th century. It has a T-shaped notch, reinforcing plate and rolling along the edge of the dome.

These rivets riveted the skin. To this skin then a liner is sewn.

Это просто невероятного какого-то уровня работа, как по мне!!!!!!! Могу долго изливаться в комплиментах, (нецензурных по большей части ;-) что обусловлено качеством работы и смонтированного видео!!! А теперь по сути вопросы, если можно... Что за сталь? На окалину ушло немного, судя по виду, а грели много?!!.. Была ли какая то термообработка по итогу? wonderfull work, but is it enough thick ? historical armor piece are 3mm to 1.5mm in thinner parts

So, I know I'm a few years late to this video, but how do you determine the size of the metal circle before making the helmet? I'm looking to make things like this and don't have a lot of advanced tools such as a welder, and enjoy more traditional methods.

one simple question: why the metal doesnot continue expanding while hammering when hot?

Heat expands metal (microscopically). The hammer and forming stake compress or stretch it. (molecularly) Hot forging is a balancing act between the two forces. That's the easy explanation and I know it doesn't tell you much. In order to really understand it you need to get some hammer time.
