Do you have any tips on iced coffee? Idk if you just wait til it’s cold or you do the “routine” differently

In my experience everyone does it a Bit differently but you should Put the Coffee into your Shaker with the ice immedeately Shake and Drink fresh. The Coffee wont Melt all the ice so dont worry about changing anything
@mikeg8437

If you're talking specifically about iced coffee and not cold brew search the phrase "Japanese style iced coffee". Basically you brew your coffee directly on to the ice and account for the dilution as the ice melts. If you're talking about cold brew search the phrase "hot bloom" to learn some tips on how to extract a wider range of flavors. That should be the only time hot water touches a cold brew. Another term to seach involving cold brew would be the "Kyoto style" but that involves some extra equipment.

How much should the shot of espresso weigh?
@Thunder8277
@Thunder8277 Жыл бұрын
It depends. He weighed out 18g of beans, so you would typically see 36-40 grams of coffee. 18-22 grams will get you a ristretto, 55-60 will get you a lungo. Don't get too hung up on numbers, though. The most important part is that you get to your desired weight within the 25-30 second mark and that the end result tastes good. Happy brewing😁

Equipment matters too, grinders matter most in terms of how it affects the flavour of a bean. If you can, try and get a bottomless filter and see if your extractions are bad. If it’s neither of these, it’s probably your beans, or you just dont like the taste of espresso. Try your local specialty cafes and compare them to yours.
@Ashhong1
@Ashhong1 Жыл бұрын
@@varrelxx I did get a bottomless and the extraction looks about the same as what I see. I think I don’t like the taste lol. It’s just when I see videos saying “I taste hints of chocolate, grapes, and other fruits” I’m just thinking wow, what the hell am I drinking?!
@isodoubIet

@@Ashhong1 What people mean is that it reminds them of these things. At the end of the day it's coffee and it tastes like coffee, all the other 'notes' are subtle by comparison. You can also experiment with the roast, darkly roasted coffee will usually be less "fruity" than a light or medium roast.
@varrelxx
@varrelxx Жыл бұрын
@@Ashhong1 Usually, coffees are evaluated professionally through “cupping.” It usually happens by comparison too, so they would be cupping more than one coffee to taste the difference. Tasting coffee through espresso is a little harder and most espresso has the same general taste. Dont be upset if you can’t get the “notes” while sipping espresso, as only experienced coffee drinkers or professionals could tell. Try comparing with a milk-based drink first. I like to go to cafes and order cortados to see if I like their beans.

So the WDT makes a much larger difference in the final product than I ever thought it would. I always thought it was a gimmick but I recently tried it and yeah. Not sure if I think a puck screen is worth it I didn't really notice a difference but WDT for sure and weighing definitely give you more consistency.
