I'm not on a diet for weight, but for some serious health issues. The sugar, fat (butter) etc., and even the sodium in the cake mix are detrimental to me. HOWEVER, that's not to say I'm not in love with this recipe. My mom used to make it all the time (she never thought of the caramel though lol), and I've made it also. Gina made this so beautiful - I AM saving this to try later when I'm healthier - No, I did not unlike the video - just my take on why some folks MIGHT have. Carry on sister.

I agree the more you cover it with butter, the more crispy it will be. I have made it with less butter and it came out more doughy, not the texture I wanted. So your way is the best. It really is fantastic! Thank you!

I baked this yesterday but I used a spice cake mix instead of yellow and used butter pecan ice cream instead of vanilla and when I tell you my children and I LOVED the finished product! It was awesome. Thank you so much for sharing this yummy recipe. She 's right "if you never tried caramel apple dump cake (baked this way), YOU BETTER GET YOU SOME!! Lol #LoveIt

Just made this MASTERPIECE AND BAMMMMM..DELISHHHH ON ALL LEVELSSSS POSSIBLE. I used fresh granny smith apples instead of the can because I had bought them and was gonna make a apple pie but changed my mind and decided to surf KZfaq and ran into your recipe.
